Flesh, Spark, and Living Change
One of the largest milestones in the development of Whispers of Erosia has officially been completed.
The Forged & Altered section is now finished.
This brings together three of Erosia’s most unusual peoples:
- Fleshforged
- Sparkin
- Gelkin
While many fantasy worlds draw their cultures from ancient bloodlines, lost kingdoms, or divine ancestry, the peoples of Forged & Altered ask a different question:
What happens when life is created, transformed, rebuilt, or born from something entirely unexpected?
These races explore identity through change rather than inheritance. They stand apart from the mortal peoples of Erosia, the Beastkin of Fur & Feather, and even the dream-touched descendants of the Veil.
Each represents a different answer to what it means to become a person.
Fleshforged

The Crafted Souls
The Fleshforged began as one of the most ambitious projects in the setting and ultimately became one of its most distinctive.
Neither machine nor construct in the traditional fantasy sense, Fleshforged are living beings shaped through artistry, devotion, purpose, and craftsmanship. Their bodies are crafted, but their souls are unquestionably their own.
Over the course of development, the Fleshforged evolved into multiple cultural lineages, each with its own visual identity, history, and philosophy.
From the elegant artistry of the Atelier-Born to the steadfast resilience of the Bastion Cast, the contemplative traditions of the Templewrought, and the self-made freedom of the Free Assemblage, the race grew far beyond its original concept.
What began as a single race became a study of purpose, self-determination, and the question:
Are we defined by why we were made, or by who we choose to become?
Sparkin

Children of Living Energy
The Sparkin embody motion, curiosity, and possibility.
Born from living elemental forces, magical phenomena, and energies that refuse to remain still, Sparkin bring a sense of wonder to every corner of Erosia.
Their cultures celebrate experimentation, discovery, and the joy of becoming something new. Whether crackling with lightning, glowing with radiant warmth, or carrying the quiet hum of arcane currents, Sparkin remind the world that change is not always something to fear.
Sometimes it is something to celebrate.
Gelkin

The Shapeshaped
The Gelkin challenged many assumptions during development.
At first glance they appear fluid, mutable, and difficult to define. Yet beneath their ever-changing forms lies one of the strongest themes in Erosia:
Identity is not diminished by change.
The Gelkin embrace adaptation as a way of life. Their communities, appearances, and traditions are often as flexible as their bodies, creating cultures built on acceptance, reinvention, and personal expression.
They stand as a reminder that permanence is not required for authenticity.
Building a New Corner of Erosia
Completing Forged & Altered required far more than writing race mechanics. It meant developing entirely new visual languages, cultural identities, artistic standards, and worldbuilding foundations. Race pages were expanded. Artwork was created and refined. Reference standards were established. Lore was rewritten and clarified.
Visual doctrines were tested repeatedly until each people felt distinct, recognizable, and uniquely Erosian. What emerged is a collection of races that feel unlike anything else currently found in the setting.
Looking Ahead
With Child of the Veil, Mortal Races, Fur & Feather, and now Forged & Altered complete, the roster of playable peoples continues to take shape.
The remaining race sections still lie ahead:
- Shadow, Grace, Dragon & Giant
- Tide, Root & Element
Each will introduce entirely new cultures, histories, and visual identities to the world.
But for now, the forges cool, the sparks settle, and the living forms of change take their place among the peoples of Erosia.
The Forged & Altered chapter is complete.
And Erosia is richer for it.
