The precision of interlocking gears, the rhythm of pistons, the warmth of an active core and the deliberate construction of a crafted body fascinate you in ways ordinary machinery does not. You spent years seeking, studying, repairing or creating constructs until you learned to recognize the subtle differences between a machine that merely moves and one whose movements suggest something more.

Work with your GM to determine how your fascination with crafted bodies shaped your life. Perhaps you apprenticed to a construct maker, repaired Fleshforged bodies, maintained elaborate automata or collected forbidden diagrams of artificial anatomy. Perhaps your fascination became more intimate, and you sought companionship among constructed beings others regarded only as tools. Whatever your path, attraction gave you a reason to understand mechanisms from the inside out.

Your familiarity with constructs allows you to recognize common principles of their design. By closely examining a nonhostile construct, automaton or mechanical device, you can usually identify its broad purpose, signs of damage or unusual modification and whether its workmanship resembles a maker or tradition you have previously encountered.

Construct makers, repairers and communities where constructed beings are common recognize your genuine expertise. Unless given reason to distrust you, they will generally discuss their craft with you and can direct you toward local workshops, replacement components or someone capable of performing specialized repairs.
