You have always been captivated by voices. A low murmur across a crowded room, a breathy confession, a commanding order, a beautiful song or an unfamiliar accent can seize your attention before you have even seen the speaker. You learned to listen closely, remembering cadence, pitch, inflection and the tiny vocal habits that make one person’s voice unmistakably their own.

Work with your GM to determine where your fascination led you. Perhaps you sought singers, storytellers and celebrated orators, worked backstage in a theater, collected songs and oral histories, or became enamored with a particular speaker whose voice you could recognize anywhere. You may have practiced reproducing the voices that fascinated you until mimicry became second nature, or traveled simply to hear accents, languages and vocal traditions unavailable at home.

You have an exceptional memory for voices. After spending meaningful time listening to someone speak, you can usually recognize their natural voice again even when you cannot see them, provided it has not been substantially altered by magic or some other extraordinary means.

Your ear for speech also helps you reproduce familiar sounds. After listening closely to a person’s voice, regional accent or distinctive manner of speaking, you can imitate its obvious qualities well enough to demonstrate it to others, though convincingly impersonating a specific individual may still require an appropriate ability check.
