Seraphine Glacé’s Sugar & Skin

A Little Sugar. A Little Skin. Something Worth Staying For.

Follow the scent of cinnamon and roasted coffee through Amarosa’s Petalweave Quarter, and you will find Sugar & Skin. Behind its honeyed windows, porcelain cups steam beside glossy pastries, silk catches the lantern light, and someone always seems to have saved a chair.

Seraphine Glacé’s café-pâtisserie welcomes travelers, neighbors, adventurers, and anyone who could use a softer place to land. Come for an exquisite confection or a dangerously good cup of coffee. Stay for the company—and perhaps a delicious little secret.

Meet Seraphine Glacé

Owner, head baker, and the radiant heart of Sugar & Skin, Seraphine treats presentation as an act of devotion. This Silkborn pâtissière has rose-champagne skin, flowing platinum-blonde hair, champagne-gold eyes, and a smile that suggests she noticed you noticing her.

Her artistry honors Velzhara, the Mirror Bride, through beauty, reflection, and the pleasure of being comfortably seen. She plates her desserts before a mirror, uses culinary sigils to warm pastries and guide enchanted kitchen tools, and remembers a returning guest’s favorite order almost as readily as their name.

Her rose-embroidered apron, delicate gold ornaments, and carefully tailored service attire meet Amarosa’s regulations with mischievous precision. Beneath the flourish is an accomplished hostess: observant, generous with her attention, and quite capable of recognizing when a guest wants quiet instead of conversation.

Inside Sugar & Skin

Marble tables, polished wood, lace curtains, and warm lanterns give the café its intimate glow. Staff move easily between neighboring tables, leaving room for conversation to find its own pace. Hospitality is attentive, and flirtation is an invitation that guests may welcome or let pass.

Faces Behind the Counter

Lina — Floor Service. Calm and attentive, Lina keeps tables moving without making anyone feel hurried. She recognizes when a guest needs conversation, company, or a little space.

Corren — Coffee and Counter. Precise with the roast and dry with the commentary, Corren notices interruptions to familiar routines. An untouched cup or a second order for an absent companion rarely escapes attention.

Mirel — Kitchen and Preparation. Soft-spoken Mirel works between kitchen and counter, hearing more than guests realize. Their observations arrive quietly, often while setting down something warm.

Caelyra Sunstripe — The Honeyed Smile. This honey-blonde, spotted Felinari brings playful warmth to guest service and the seasonal counter. She can turn a question about dessert into an invitation to linger, letting a tempting whisper accompany the plate.

From the Everyday Menu

Sinnamon Roles. The house specialty: warm cinnamon spirals layered with honeyed butter and spiced glaze. Order them for the table, and give yourself permission to linger.

Velvet Roast Coffee. A rich, slow-brewed roast finished with cream and rose sugar. An excellent companion to a thoughtful pause or an unexpectedly long conversation.

Blushcream Éclairs. Light pastry filled with vanilla cream, lovely enjoyed alone and particularly charming when shared. Seraphine recommends a plate and very little haste.

Honeyed Hearth Bread. Warm bread brushed with honey and butter, ready to be torn and passed around. Some conversations begin more easily when everyone has something comforting in their hands.

Rose-Sugar Biscuits. Delicate biscuits dusted with fragrant rose sugar, leaving crumbs and a little sweetness on the fingers. A small plate makes an easy companion to coffee and unhurried company.

Velvet Custard Cups. Silky custard served in small cups, meant to be savored one spoonful at a time. They suit the quiet corner where a conversation has finally become honest.

Petalsteam Tea. A gently calming floral infusion, served in matched cups. Choose it when the day has asked a little too much of you.

Sweet Bites & Soft Whispers

Every month, Seraphine sets out a fresh selection of seasonal confections and drinks, accompanied by the conversations drifting through her café. A new glaze might arrive beside news of a missing courier. A spiced cup might carry a whispered invitation, an unlikely romance, or a question nobody at the next table can quite answer. Each edition pairs the pleasures of Sugar & Skin with rumors, familiar faces, and small openings into larger adventures. Selected editions also include downloadable menu or rumor cards to bring straight to your table. Ask what is fresh. Then ask what Seraphine has heard.

Autumn Vigil: This Month’s Specials & Rumors

A Note From Seraphine

The evenings have grown cooler, my sweets, and Amarosa has begun remembering all the reasons to sit a little closer. I have warmed the spices, polished the cups, and made room for the sort of conversation that starts with, “You didn’t hear this from me.” This month’s counter holds pumpkin, pear, and three particularly tempting whispers. Choose something lovely. We have time.

Pumpkin-Kissed Sinnamon Roles

Our familiar cinnamon spirals return with pumpkin cream, honeyed butter, and a delicate spiced glaze. Served warm enough to encourage a second fork and a longer visit, they make a fine beginning to Autumn Vigil.

The whisper: “Someone has been leaving a sealed invitation beneath the same empty chair every evening. Different handwriting. Same black wax.”

At the counter: Caelyra Sunstripe smiles over a fresh plate. “I could tell you which chair. But then you would spend the entire evening watching it, and these are much better while warm.”

Three-Moon Pear Tart

A buttery tart holds three slender pear fans beneath a translucent honey glaze, finished with a trace of rose sugar. Seraphine arranges each one with the seriousness other people reserve for signing treaties.

The whisper: “A merchant ordered two tarts every day for a week. Yesterday, his reflection arrived in the window before he did.”

Beside the coffee cups: Corren measures another spoonful of beans. “The reflection ordered tea. That was the part I found suspicious.”

Lanternspice Velvet Roast

Velvet Roast takes on an autumn warmth with cinnamon, toasted spice, and a soft crown of vanilla cream. Its fragrance reaches the table before the cup does, inviting chilled hands to settle around the porcelain.

The whisper: “The lantern-maker near the market has stopped selling one particular lamp. People who light it keep dreaming of a door under their own homes.”

From Seraphine: “Dreams are allowed to be strange, darling. It is when they start giving accurate directions that I begin asking questions.”

For the DM: Behind the Whispers

For the DM: Behind the Whispers

Use these suggested explanations as written or adapt them to your campaign. Share the rumors above with players and keep these explanations behind the screen.

The empty chair. The invitations are intended for a former regular now traveling under an assumed name. Several petitioners seek their help with a discreet gathering during Autumn Vigil. A guest who investigates can follow the invitation to a willing conversation; the black seal can remain an unrelated local mark or connect to an existing plot at the DM’s discretion.

The early reflection. A damaged enchanted compact is producing an independent reflection of its owner. The reflection is curious and enjoys tastes its owner usually dismisses. Seraphine asks the party to arrange a conversation between the two and find a mirror-worker capable of repairing the compact.

The dreaming lamp. An old batch of lamp glass contains fragments from a buried wayfinding charm. Its dreams point toward forgotten cellar passages rather than literal doors under every home. The lantern-maker needs help tracing the glass supplier before more customers begin digging.

A Chair Worth Keeping

Sugar & Skin’s Autumn Vigil specials are here for conversations that deserve a little sweetness. Take a rumor with your order, leave a story with your cup, and return when the next menu appears. Seraphine will remember where you like to sit.

Becoming a Regular

Sugar & Skin grows familiar through small acts: a remembered order, a chair offered without asking, a greeting that uses your name. Returning guests gradually become part of the room’s daily life, and their absence may be noticed as readily as their arrival.

VisitsWhat Changes
First visitThe staff welcome the party and give them room to settle. Seraphine observes before deciding whether to join the conversation.
After two or three visitsSomeone remembers a favorite order. Conversation becomes easier, and a familiar seat may be offered when available.
Once the party is knownRegulars greet them, staff ask direct questions, and a quiet request for help may accompany their coffee. Familiarity earns trust through conduct, rather than granting access to private rooms.
When boundaries are ignoredStaff shorten conversations and state what needs to stop. Seraphine intervenes; continued misconduct can end the visit. Hospitality depends on respect for everyone in the café.

Whispers Around the Tables

These everyday whispers remain available between seasonal editions. Roll a d10 or choose one that suits the visitors. A rumor may be true, mistaken, exaggerated, or simply unfinished; its truth belongs to the campaign, and hearing it creates no obligation to investigate.

d10The Whisper
1Someone stopped coming to Sugar & Skin, and their absence is beginning to show.
2A rival café is trying to copy Seraphine’s recipes.
3City officials are debating tighter rules for service attire.
4A patron confessed something here that changed their life.
5Seraphine turned someone down politely, but firmly.
6A noble couple always meets here before public appearances.
7A regular has been staying all day lately.
8Someone saw a sign of Velzhara in the kitchen ovens.
9The coffee tastes different when you are lying to yourself—or so a regular insists.
10A temple has been discussing Sugar & Skin with decidedly mixed opinions.

A Place in Your Campaign

Sugar & Skin is a recurring location for Whispers of Erosia: a welcoming place to meet an informant, share a meal, develop a relationship, or gather your thoughts between expeditions. Its stories grow through conversation, curiosity, and the comfort of becoming a regular.

Use the monthly specials as small encounters or starting points for your own adventures. The rumors are things people say; discovering what lies behind them is part of the pleasure. The café’s sensual atmosphere can remain playful, become warmer through mutual interest, or simply settle into excellent hospitality.

For the DM: A Visit Worth Running

Begin with one patron, one private concern, and a reason they notice the party. Let the scene end with comfort, a new acquaintance, or a small lead; every visit need not become an adventure.

d6A Guest and Their Concern
1An artisan taking an unexpectedly long break needs courage to return to unfinished work.
2A courier watches the door, postponing delivery of an unwelcome letter.
3A merchant leaves their ledgers untouched while deciding whether to trust a partner.
4An off-duty courtesan enjoys quiet company and wants someone else to carry the conversation.
5A pilgrim wonders whether the care taken with a meal can itself honor a deity.
6A familiar NPC did not expect to meet the party here and must decide what to admit.

Openings into Adventure

  • The Regular Who Never Leaves. A daily patron says they feel “more real” in the café. A concerned friend asks the party to learn what makes going home so difficult.
  • Stolen Recipes. A rival serves suspiciously familiar pastries whose enchantments behave strangely. Seraphine asks for discreet help tracing the copied sigils and ingredients.
  • Health Code Scrutiny. Complaints bring a city official to the counter. The party can help distinguish genuine concerns from a dispute over reputation, rivalry, and public taste.
  • The Mirror Bride’s Favor. A reflection in the kitchen mirror reveals a detail absent from the room. Seraphine seeks help interpreting the sign before treating it as a blessing.
  • A Meeting in Public. Two people choose the café because each feels safe there, although for different reasons. The party is asked to witness a difficult conversation rather than settle it by force.

In Classic play, emphasize hospitality, curiosity, and relationships. Veiled play can add flirtation and mutual interest. Unveiled rules may support willing interactions when the group uses them; service, food, and enchantments never establish consent on a guest’s behalf.

Bring Sugar & Skin to Your Table

Some souvenirs find their way beyond Amarosa. Pour your session’s coffee into a Sugar & Skin mug, mark your campaign notebook with the café’s emblem, or give your players a small keepsake from their favorite pâtisserie.

For DMs, these pieces add a little atmosphere to downtime scenes. Serve something sweet, share Seraphine’s latest gossip, and let the table settle into the familiar comforts of the Petalweave Quarter.

A Little Café Magic

  • Mugs: Make your coffee break a visit to Sugar & Skin while the party orders pastries and exchanges rumors.
  • Stickers: Mark character folders, journals, or your DM screen—or offer one as a keepsake when a character becomes a café regular.
  • Spiral notebooks: Keep Seraphine’s gossip, recurring patrons, and unfinished adventure threads close at hand.
  • Pins and magnets: Give your group a small souvenir of its adventures in Amarosa.

Every purchase supports the continued creation of Whispers of Erosia. Seraphine would call that excellent taste.
