Independent advocates and mediators · Amarosa with itinerant circuit tables

The Table explains obligations before agreements become traps. It represents workers, clients, households and ritual participants, and offers mediation when all sides freely choose it. Its ambition is recognized standing for an independent advocate in disputes involving personal service or contested authority.

Moral character: Good and pluralist. Individual members may disagree with their organization’s conduct.

Leadership & control

Practicing advocates elect three Conveners who cannot all serve the same patron. senior Convener Maelis Thorn, a mature Umbrel woman, has a gift for making a frightened client heard. She is tempted to accept prominent cases that finance the practice while quieter complaints wait.

Faith & moral tensions

Mirellune supplies a vocabulary for limited authority; Zenthira informs confidentiality. Secular members reject the need for any sacred justification. The Table can defend a person’s right to an unpopular lawful choice without approving that choice. It refuses to represent both sides of the same dispute.

Resources & membership

Graduated fees, endowments without case control and paid commercial work support free consultations. Advocates qualify through supervised casework. Membership offers introductions and records access through lawful channels, never immunity or guaranteed success.

Daily life & internal tensions

Public tables face open doors; private rooms allow visitors to withhold names until they decide to proceed. Clients receive copies of what they sign. A patron threatens to withdraw support unless the Table stops helping a guild opponent.

A voluntary devotional apprenticeship includes a livelihood clause its author now uses to block departure. No one disputes the apprentice once wanted the arrangement. The dispute concerns what can still be enforced after circumstances change. The Returning Key offers theological testimony, but a civic remedy requires evidence, negotiation and somewhere for the apprentice to live.
