Aratheian care and respite order · Kitchens roadside hospices and relief caravans
The Fellowship cares for caregivers. It supplies relief cooks, substitute attendants, recovery rooms and practical help when a household’s one dependable person can no longer continue. Its ambition is a network where asking for rest does not require proving collapse first.
Moral character: Good. Individual members may disagree with their organization’s conduct.
Leadership & control
Kitchen, care and transport teams each choose delegates to a rotating supper council. Hearthmother Ysra Bell, a mature Bovinari woman, is a former caravan cook with exacting supply habits. The title follows office rather than ancestry. Ysra wants every worker to take leave while secretly refusing her own.
Faith & moral tensions
This is an explicitly Aratheian vocation open to lay helpers. It seeks faithful embodiment through generosity with limits: a caregiver’s body and labor are not an inexhaustible sacrament. Its greatest temptation is deciding what recipients need without listening because the kitchens are so busy.
Resources & membership
Donated produce, subscriptions from prosperous houses and paid catering support free care. New members learn food handling, listening and when to seek specialist help. No one must pray or disclose an intimate history to receive supper.
Daily life & internal tensions
A covered bowl waits for late arrivals. Volunteers ask permission before entering a room or beginning a task. Donors want their names displayed and their favored neighborhoods served first. The Lantern Linen Fellowship insists that charitable staff deserve wages; some elders still romanticize unpaid devotion.
Allies, rivals & shared pressures
- The Lantern Linen Fellowship — Care workers need wages and rest as well as recognition.
- The Saffron Measure — Reliable supplies support care without extravagant promises.
- The Mortal Lamp Assembly — Public relief can unite believers and secular reformers.

Adventure seed
The Fellowship can feed a displaced district for ten days, but a patron will fund the eleventh only if residents enter permanent service contracts. The party can find another supply, negotiate genuine paid work or expose the leverage. Destroying the contract does not fill the pantry, so the material problem must also be solved.
