Bedwrights and accessible furnishings guild · Urban workshops and traveling crews
The Fellowship builds rooms that fit the people who inhabit them: chairs for tails, strong sleeping frames, adjustable steps, private screens and baths with usable supports. Its ambition is to make varied bodies ordinary considerations in design instead of expensive exceptions.
Moral character: Neutral with strong craft ethics. Individual members may disagree with their organization’s conduct.
Leadership & control
Workshop masters elect a First Joiner, but apprentices elect the examiner who checks training conditions. First Joiner Orrel Mosspeg, a middle-aged Hearthkin man with a stiff shoulder, wants common public-building dimensions that accommodate more people. He is excellent at listening to clients and poor at surrendering favored designs.
Faith & moral tensions
Threxian self-authorship inspires the principle that a room should adapt to a person’s chosen life. Solynthian houses commission wardrobe fittings. Secular artisans belong equally. The Fellowship values confidentiality, sometimes so strongly that it withholds evidence of a dangerous commission.
Resources & membership
Repairs provide steady income; ceremonial commissions fund experimentation. Membership requires a practical work sample and an apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Its maker’s mark carries a repair guarantee, not divine protection. Members keep enough spare timber for emergency shelter work.
Daily life & internal tensions
A bedwright asks how the customer moves before asking what carving they prefer. Good offcuts become stools for communal kitchens. Established masters want exclusive rights to certain designs; younger makers want shared patterns that isolated villages can copy.
Allies, rivals & shared pressures
- The Open Door Office — Accessible fittings give inspection standards practical form.
- The Lantern Linen Fellowship — Attendants know where rooms fail the people who work in them.
- The Company of the Unborrowed Face — Stage fittings and private exits join performance to practical craft.

Adventure seed
Cheap frames bearing forged Fellowship marks fail across the pleasure district. The counterfeiter is a dismissed apprentice whose affordable improvements were suppressed by senior masters. The party can stop dangerous sales and reveal the suppression without pretending those facts cancel each other. The Open Door Office needs evidence before closing innocent workshops.
