Mirellunean religious order · Independent chapters within willing sanctuaries

The Order witnesses the beginning, review and ending of entrusted authority: apprenticeships, regencies, guardianships and devotional vows. It keeps keys that must eventually return. Its ambition is to make renewal and release as solemn as the ceremony in which authority is first given.

Moral character: Lawful good. Individual members may disagree with their organization’s conduct.

Leadership & control

Chapters elect a Keyholder for a fixed term from experienced witnesses. Keyholder Ivara Kes, a mature Dracari woman, once ended her own prestigious appointment after recognizing that her authority had become habitual. A visiting chapter audits each succession. Ivara’s weakness is trusting an elegant procedure more than a person’s account of its misuse.

Faith & moral tensions

The Order seeks to embody Mirellune faithfully. It does not oppose discipline or commitment; it opposes enlarging a grant of authority after the fact. It regards the Crown Without Dusk as a theological corruption. A divine sign may guide discernment but does not eliminate the need to hear affected people.

Resources & membership

Endowments and openly listed witnessing fees support training and travel. No fee is charged merely to hear a request for release. Members include clergy, Oathsworn and lay witnesses; theological study and supervised service precede admission.

Daily life & internal tensions

At every installation, the outgoing Keyholder physically returns the office keys before the successor receives them. Conservative members fear that easy release will hollow out vows; reformers fear that procedural delay makes release fictional.

Adventure seed

A temporary emergency governor refuses to relinquish a town’s seals after the danger passes. Their administration genuinely improved public safety. The Order seeks the party’s help assembling testimony and negotiating a lawful transition before the Crown Without Dusk supplies soldiers to make the temporary arrangement permanent.
