Hello, lovers and friends!
Oh, my delicious little troublemakers… the nights are growing longer, the lanterns are burning brighter, and someone has been whispering to the pumpkin patch again. (No judgment. We all have our autumn hobbies.)
Today I have two new Autumn Vigil legends to share with you on Whispers of Erosia! Not just delicious rumors, either. Both now have playable creature entries, including their own supernatural abilities and Mechanics of Desire. One is a bride stitched from straw. The other is a grinning gentleman with a very memorable tongue.
And neither is quite as harmless as the harvest decorations would have you believe.
Maedra, the Straw-Stitched Bride — A Promise Beneath the Harvest Moon

My loves, have you ever made a promise you hoped the fields themselves would forget?
Meet Maedra, the Straw-Stitched Bride: an ancient, silent harvest fey wearing a body of patched burlap, golden straw, twine and a sunflower-topped hat. She may look like a scarecrow someone dressed for a festival, but there’s a living will behind that stitched smile—and she is nobody’s possession.
Maedra comes to exhausted fields, listens to honest vows and can bless a struggling harvest. But try to bind her, claim her, or mistake her generosity for obedience, and that sweet autumn visit could turn rather prickly. Imagine the possibilities: desperate villagers, a promise made in moonlight, and a bride who has no intention of being kept.
Her CR 5 fey profile, harvest abilities, Mechanics of Desire and Lesser Straw Servant give Dungeon Masters plenty to play with, whether the party approaches with kindness, suspicion or steel.

Jack O’Rapture — The Gentleman You Really Shouldn’t Summon Lightly

Now, now… this next gentleman is for those of you who like your Autumn Vigil stories with a wicked grin and just a little more danger.
The legend says that a carved pumpkin, a little sweet wine and honey, and an invitation whispered beneath a brilliant moon can call Jack O’Rapture from the Midnight Patch. He prefers to be invited, thank you very much. How delightfully polite of him.
Of course, polite doesn’t mean safe. Jack arrives wrapped in living roots, autumn leaves and pumpkin flesh, with a theatrical smile and a tongue that—oh, behave!—is perfectly capable of making a memorable first impression. His bargains can leave golden blossom-marks, and the harvest beneath the soil may be collecting more than any visitor suspects.
The public legend includes Jack’s CR 8 creature rules, the mysterious Pistil-Bound, and encounter-ready Mechanics of Desire for Classic, Veiled and Unveiled Play. Whether your party offers a greeting, investigates the rumor or decides to run very quickly in the other direction is entirely up to them.

Two Legends. Your Table. Your Trouble.
Both pages are available to explore and bring into your next Autumn Vigil session. These are local legends and seasonal encounter material, not a claim that every Erosian village tells the same story. Use the mysteries, creatures and rules that suit your group. The most interesting endings are the ones your players surprise you with.
And yes, my sweet little minxes, the world has plenty more tempting corners. If you want to go deeper into our Veiled Treats adventures, come visit Velvet Veil Press on Patreon. For now, these two new legends are waiting right here in the Bestiary.
Now please, tell me everything. Did your adventurers earn the Straw-Stitched Bride’s trust, or discover that some promises really do put down roots? Did anyone dare whisper an invitation to Jack? And if they did… was it his charm they found so unforgettable? (*blush*)
Leave me your stories in the comments. Your beautiful, chaotic tables are half the fun of bringing Erosia to life.
Keep your lanterns lit, your promises honest, and your desires deliciously dangerous.
With love and a wicked little wink,
Velvet Veil Press
