Description
You touch a nonliving object and hear a faint echo of the last sentence spoken within 5 feet of it during the preceding hour, provided that sentence was spoken aloud and was audible in the object’s location. You hear the words in the speaker’s original language and do not learn their meaning unless you know that language. The spell does not identify the speaker, reveal unspoken thoughts, or reproduce more than one sentence. If no sentence meets these conditions, you hear only silence. An object can yield a single echo from this spell; subsequent castings on that object reveal nothing until a different sentence becomes the most recent one.
- Veiled Effects. The echo is audible only to you, allowing the discovery to remain private unless you choose to share it.
- Unveiled Effects. When you cast this spell, you may spend 1 Libido to extend the lookback period to 24 hours instead of 1 hour. The spell still reveals only the most recent qualifying sentence, and it does not induce Arousal or require an EROS Save.
“Walls do not speak, but they are remarkably poor at forgetting.”
