Description

A translucent shield of crimson glass blooms across your skin. Reduce the triggering attack’s damage to you by 2d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum reduction 1). If this reduces that damage to 0, the attacker takes piercing damage equal to your proficiency bonus as long as it is within 5 feet of you. The shield then shatters harmlessly.

At Higher Levels. Damage reduction increases by 1d8 for each slot above 2nd.

Velvet Court Devotion. Nyzun. Nyzun’s adherents describe the bloodglass as a protective test of sensation: knowing exactly what was prevented is wiser than boasting about what one can endure.

Devotional Rite. After this spell prevents damage, the caster may name the prevented damage aloud as part of Nyzun’s reckoning. This has no extra mechanical effect; the gauntlet is a customary prop, not an additional required component.

  • Veiled Effects. When you prevent all the damage, you may move 5 feet to an unoccupied space without provoking opportunity attacks from the triggering attacker.
  • Unveiled Effects. If you prevent at least 1 damage, you may gain 1 Arousal after the attack resolves to grant yourself temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. Alternatively, spend 1 Libido as you cast to increase damage reduction by 1d8. Only one enhancement applies.
