Description

A riblike cage of spectral bone rises around one Large or smaller creature you can see. The creature must succeed on a Strength saving throw or become restrained. While restrained, it may use its action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC, ending the restraint on a success. The lattice has AC 14, 25 hit points, and immunity to poison and psychic damage. Reducing it to 0 hit points ends the spell. The spell never controls the creature’s thoughts or decisions.

At Higher Levels. For every slot above 3rd, the lattice gains 10 hit points.

Velvet Court Devotion. Mirellune. Mirellune’s temple makes a sharp distinction between combat restraints and chosen ritual bondage: willingness creates trust, not captivity.

Devotional Rite. A willing target may choose to fail the initial saving throw. If it does, the lattice becomes a ceremonial harness rather than a prison: it is restrained but gains half cover against attacks originating outside the lattice, and it may end the restraint and this spell on itself at any time without an action. This replaces the normal combat-lattice effect for that target.

  • Veiled Effects. When the creature escapes the lattice, it can choose to leave the ribs intact as harmless standing bones for one round, providing half cover to creatures behind them.
  • Unveiled Effects. When a hostile creature fails the spell’s initial saving throw, you may gain 1 Arousal. If you do, the lattice gains temporary hit points equal to twice your proficiency bonus. Alternatively, spend 1 Libido when casting to impose disadvantage on the initial Strength save. Do not combine both enhancements.

“Some prisons are built to stop violence, not thought.”
