Description
Choose a creature within range. It makes a Constitution saving throw, taking 3d8 necrotic damage on a failure or half as much on a success. On a failure, the next time the target would regain hit points before the start of your next turn, the amount restored is reduced by your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum 1). This reduction applies only once and cannot reduce healing below 0.
At Higher Levels. Damage increases by 1d8 for every slot above 2nd.
Velvet Court Devotion. Nyzun. Nyzun teaches that sensation without discipline is only noise. His practitioners never confuse inflicting pain with earning authority over another.
Devotional Rite. When a target fails the save, the caster may make the healing-blocking pulse visible as a vibrating red thread. A willing observer can recognize when the thread fades, but it does not reveal hit point totals or force emotional responses.
- Veiled Effects. On a failed save, you may cause the target’s existing wounds to glow dull red until the start of your next turn. The glow reveals its location if it is not behind cover but does not cancel invisibility.
- Unveiled Effects. If the target fails its Constitution save after it harmed you since the beginning of your previous turn, you may gain 1 Arousal. If you do, the healing reduction increases by your proficiency bonus. Only once per casting; a target that succeeds suffers no additional effect.
