Description

An open circle of soft light surrounds you and moves with you. A creature in the circle that voluntarily makes a promise aloud may choose to mark that promise with a visible sigil until the spell ends. The sigil confirms only that the words were spoken willingly, not whether they were true or will be kept. Additionally, creatures within the circle have advantage on saving throws against magical effects that would force them to speak. Each creature may choose whether its own promise is marked.

Velvet Court Devotion. Mirellune. Mirellune’s covenant rites teach that a spoken promise is an offered bond, never a magical surrender of autonomy. Even a vow can be withdrawn.

Devotional Rite. Once during the duration, a willing creature that has marked a promise may voluntarily gain 1 Arousal and use its reaction to grant one other willing creature within the circle advantage on its next saving throw against compelled speech before the beginning of the former’s next turn. This benefit cannot be used by the caster to force the promise’s fulfillment.

  • Veiled Effects. A creature that has marked its promise may use an action to show the sigil to one creature it can see, even if the recipient does not understand its language.
  • Unveiled Effects. When this spell allows a willing creature to succeed on a saving throw against compelled speech, you may gain 1 Arousal after the save. If you do, that creature may reduce its Arousal by 1. You can gain Arousal this way once per casting.
