Bonded Hunt

Trust is the trail two hearts learn to follow together.

Lore Overview

Two shadows pass between the trees, each leaving room for the other. The Bonded Hunt follows a partnership chosen through patience, repeated care, and trust earned on the trail. Choose this conclave to fight alongside a steadfast animal companion whose positioning matters as much as your weapon. Your role blends mobile damage, scouting, and mutual protection.

Your Arousal represents your own anticipation and emotional commitment to the hunt. Your Libido funds exceptional coordination; neither resource belongs to the companion. This bond is companionship and training, never an erotic relationship with an animal. The companion has no Desire track and never receives erotic effects through these features.

Chosen Trail Companion

3rd-Level Subclass Feature

Trust gives two living instincts a direction they choose together.

During a long rest, form a bond with one willing beast you have befriended, or call a primal spirit in a beast’s shape. Either uses the Trail Companion profile below, replacing other combat statistics. Choose Small or Medium size and a grounded animal appearance; appearance grants no extra abilities. You can have only one Trail Companion. It shares your initiative and takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction independently; it takes the Dodge action unless you use a bonus action on your turn to command it to take an action on its next turn. If you are incapacitated, it may act freely to protect itself or you. It obeys only commands it can hear within 60 feet. Its own reactions do not require your bonus action.

Veiled Play. Once on each of your turns when you command your companion, if both of you can see the same hostile creature within 60 feet of each of you, you may gain 1 Arousal. If you do, the companion may move an additional 10 feet toward that creature on its next turn; this movement still provokes opportunity attacks normally.

Unveiled Play. When you command the companion, you may spend 1 Libido to let it take the Help action as a bonus action on that turn. It must meet Help’s usual requirements. This does not grant another Strike.

Ritual and Social Identity

3rd-Level Subclass Feature

The bond is renewed through ordinary, freely given care.

Spend 10 minutes during a short rest grooming, feeding, or quietly attending your companion. Until your next long rest, when one of you Helps the other on a Survival check to follow a physical trail, the helped creature also adds 1d4 to that check. This benefit can be used once per ritual and only one unused benefit may exist. The bond grants no telepathy, lie detection, or knowledge of private desires. Trust at the table is expressed through care and coordinated choices.

Veiled Play. When the care ritual ends, you may gain 1 Arousal to give yourself advantage on your next EROSave while within 10 feet of your conscious companion before your next long rest. You may gain this benefit once per long rest.

Unveiled Play. When the care ritual ends, you may spend 1 Libido to reduce your Arousal by 1 and grant your companion PB temporary hit points until your next rest. You may use this option once per long rest.

Instinctive Shelter

7th-Level Subclass Feature

Protection arrives before either companion stands alone.

When you and your companion are within 5 feet of each other and either is hit by an attack, the other may use its reaction to reduce that attack’s damage by 1d8 + PB. You share PB uses of this feature per long rest. Choose after the hit but before damage is rolled.

Veiled Play. When either of you uses this reaction, you may gain 1 Arousal to add your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) to the reduction.

Unveiled Play. When you make an EROSave while within 10 feet of your conscious companion, you may spend 1 Libido before rolling to gain advantage.

Two Paths, One Opening

11th-Level Subclass Feature

One committed strike leaves room for the other’s answer.

Your companion’s Strike damage becomes 1d8 + 2 + PB, and its strikes count as magical for overcoming resistance and immunity. Once on each of the companion’s turns, if it hits a creature you hit with a weapon attack since the start of your last turn, its Strike deals an additional 1d8 damage.

Veiled Play. When this extra damage occurs, you may gain 1 Arousal to let either you or the companion move 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks from that target. This movement uses no reaction.

Unveiled Play. You may spend 1 Libido instead of gaining Arousal to increase this movement to 15 feet.

Answering Footsteps

15th-Level Subclass Feature

A familiar footfall calls a faltering companion back.

When you or your companion within 30 feet would be reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, the other may use its reaction, if conscious, to leave the injured creature at 1 hit point instead. Once this feature succeeds, neither can use it again until you finish a long rest.

Veiled Play. Once per long rest, after your own Climax resolves, if your conscious companion is within 30 feet, both of you gain temporary hit points equal to your Stalker level for 1 minute and your companion may move up to half its speed without opportunity attacks. No action is required.

Unveiled Play. Once per long rest, after your own Climax resolves, you may spend 1 Libido to restore hit points equal to your Stalker level to your living companion within 30 feet. It may then take the Help action as a reaction if it can do so and meets Help’s normal requirements. This grants no additional Strike or Call of the Wild activation.

Additional Information

Combat Identity

Companion hunter blending scouting, mobile offense, and mutual protection.

Desire Identity

Your own anticipation and Libido support coordination; the animal companion has no Desire track.

Class Integration

You gain these features at Stalker levels 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th. This subclass works through Pursuit and the class’s hunting features. Use the costs, triggers, limits, and recovery stated in the individual features and parent class.

Stalker Pursuit Integration — 3rd Level.

Once on each of your turns when Favored Enemy, Natural Explorer, or Primeval Awareness grants you Arousal, your companion may immediately move 5 feet toward you or toward a hostile creature you both can see. This uses no action, still provokes opportunity attacks normally, and grants no attack. Your own Stalker pursuit fuels coordination; the companion gains no Arousal or Libido.

Ritual and Social Use

Renew the bond through feeding, grooming, training, and patient care. The Ritual and Social Identity feature gives the applicable observance and its complete benefits; this guidance adds no additional ritual reward.

Example of Play

Example: You strike a foe and command your companion to Strike. At level 11, its hit then gains Two Paths, One Opening. Accepting Arousal may improve its approach; spending Libido may let it Help instead as a bonus action. You still choose between commands, spells, and other bonus actions, and your companion never receives a full extra Attack action from your Extra Attack feature.

Additional Rules

Trail Companion — Profile.

Beast (or fey for a primal spirit); AC 13 + PB; hit points 5 + five times your Stalker level; Hit Dice equal to your Stalker level (d8s); speed 40 feet. STR 14 (+2), DEX 14 (+2), CON 14 (+2), INT 6 (−2), WIS 14 (+2), CHA 8 (−1). Saving throws: add PB to Dexterity and Wisdom saves. Skills: Perception and Survival, each +2 + PB; passive Perception 12 + PB. It understands your languages but cannot speak. Strike: melee weapon attack, your Stalker spell attack modifier to hit, reach 5 feet, one target; hit 1d6 + 2 + PB piercing, slashing, or bludgeoning damage, chosen when the bond forms. It has one action and one reaction, with no Multiattack. It cannot use equipment to gain extra attacks.

Companion Recovery.

The companion can spend its Hit Dice during a short rest and regains all hit points on a long rest. At 0 hit points, it makes death saves like a player character. If it died within the last hour, you can spend 1 minute tending it and expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to return it to life with 1 hit point. Alternatively, during a long rest you may restore the same companion to full health or establish a new willing bond. There is no gold cost. Replacing a living companion ends its enhanced profile peacefully and never compels its service.

Canonical Release.

In Veiled Play, when a feature says to gain 1 Arousal, add 1 to your current total. Do not replace your current total with a named emotional state. At 6 Arousal, resolve the applicable Climax Effect, reduce Libido by 1 when Libido is being tracked, and reset Arousal to 0. In Unveiled Play, also apply the website’s Arousal stage effects and normal limit of 3 Arousal gained during a single turn. A feature requiring an Arousal gain grants its associated benefit only if you actually gain that Arousal. Resolve a triggered Climax before continuing; it cannot be cancelled retroactively by reducing Arousal.

These features do not add automatic healing or Exhaustion to every Climax. Use the applicable Climax Effect and current Depletion rules. At 0 Libido, you are Depleted; you can still act and use features without an unpaid Libido cost. Further Climax while Depleted follows the core rules for Exhaustion risk. You cannot spend Libido you do not have. These subclasses neither invent a new Call of the Wild activation nor increase its permitted uses. Their release benefits modify the aftermath of the same Stalker culmination.

Agency and Presentation.

Arousal can represent anticipation, vigilance, or emotional resonance, with scenes described at the table’s preferred intensity. No feature reveals private desires, establishes attraction, compels intimacy, or changes consent. Hostile quarry selection denotes tactical pursuit. It carries no claim over a person. Ritual participation and shared emotional effects require willing participants.

Play Modes and Desire Resolution

Classic Play. Use the baseline feature and any expressly stated Classic alternative, without Arousal or Libido. A feature that only modifies Desire has no additional Classic effect.

Veiled Play. Use the baseline and the feature’s Veiled paragraph. Add each stated Arousal gain to the creature’s current total; never assign Composed, Stirred, or Overwhelmed or replace its existing pressure. Resolve Climax immediately at 6. Do not use the Unveiled paragraph.

Unveiled Play. Use the baseline and the feature’s Unveiled paragraph, together with the website’s full Arousal, Libido, Climax, and Depletion rules. Do not inherit the Veiled paragraph. A Libido expenditure requires enough Libido to pay it. Spending the final point does not disable benefits without a Libido cost.

Each feature retains its stated actions, targets, duration, resource costs, and recharge. Changing play modes restores no uses. A gain-dependent benefit requires the Arousal actually to be gained. Unless explicitly excepted, a creature gains at most 3 Arousal per turn; reductions cannot go below 0. Resolve Climax before continuing a feature or applying any after-Climax benefit: the applicable Climax Effect, 1 Libido loss where tracked, Arousal reset to 0, then applicable aftermath triggers. Healing and Exhaustion occur only when an applicable rule grants or imposes them. An EROSave is the creature’s choice of Constitution or Wisdom saving throw, including proficiency only if proficient in that save. Basic Desire Actions retain their one-per-round limit unless an explicit feature overrides it.

Unless a feature expressly states otherwise, this subclass’s EROSave DC is 8 + PB + your Wisdom modifier. PB means proficiency bonus.

Deity Alignment

This conclave may resonate with Rhaziel, the Divine Stalker, through patient pursuit and disciplined attention. Worship is not required; the tradition can arise through wilderness training, personal conviction, or trust earned on the trail.

Possible personal devotional affinities include Zenthira through the companion’s freely renewed bond. These are optional thematic interpretations, not requirements for this subclass, additional powers, or a claim over another being.
