Veil Duelist
Every feeling has its place. Every opening has its moment.

Lore Overview
A Veil Duelist does not empty the heart before drawing steel. They gather every tremor into a single point. Longing becomes distance measured; anticipation becomes the pause before a parry; release becomes the step that finally carries them beyond the blade.
Choose this Calling to play a precise martial striker and skirmisher who commits to one opponent. Your Conviction is expressed through chosen attention. Rising Arousal offers sharper timing, but spending that pressure sacrifices proximity to your Last Measure. Libido buys deliberate bursts of composure rather than more attacks.

The Chosen Line
3rd-Level Subclass Feature
Gain proficiency in Acrobatics or Insight. As a bonus action, choose one hostile creature you can see within 30 feet. It becomes your chosen opponent for 1 minute, until you are incapacitated, or until you choose another. Only one opponent can be chosen at a time. This designation does not compel the creature to fight you.
Veiled Play. When designating an opponent, you may gain 1 Arousal to increase your speed by 5 feet until the end of this turn.
Unveiled Play. When designating an opponent, you may spend 1 Libido to force it to make an EROSave. On failure it gains 1 Arousal; on success none. This cannot compel it to duel.
Measured Opening
3rd-Level Subclass Feature
Once on each of your turns when you hit your chosen opponent with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one Technique Die. Add it to the damage, then move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks from that opponent. This movement uses your speed and cannot exceed your remaining movement.
Veiled Play. After resolving this feature, you may gain 1 Arousal to gain advantage on your next EROSave before the start of your next turn.
Unveiled Play. Before resolving this feature, if you have at least 2 Arousal, you may reduce Arousal by 1 to increase its movement to 15 feet and prevent opportunity attacks from all creatures during that movement. The movement still uses your speed.
Ritual and Social Identity
3rd-Level Subclass Feature
In the Rite of the Single Thread, spend 10 minutes matching breath and slow weapon forms with one willing companion. Once per long rest, both participants gain advantage on their next Wisdom (Insight) check to understand one another within 8 hours.
Veiled Play. Each participant may gain 1 Arousal when the rite ends.
Unveiled Play. Each willing participant may reduce its Arousal by 1. Resolve any Climax already triggered before a reduction; the rite neither restores Libido nor extends Last Measure.
Breath Before Steel
7th-Level Subclass Feature
When your chosen opponent misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend one Technique Die to make one melee weapon attack against it, if it is within your reach. On a hit, add the die to the damage. The die is spent even if you miss.
Veiled Play. After a hit, you may gain 1 Arousal to move 5 feet without opportunity attacks from your chosen opponent.
Unveiled Play. Before making this attack, you may spend 1 Libido to gain advantage on it. This grants no Arousal or additional reaction.
Courtesy of the Veil
7th-Level Subclass Feature
After observing a willing creature’s sparring, dance, or formal address for 1 minute, you have advantage on your next Wisdom (Insight) check to understand its stated concern during the next hour. This cannot reveal secrets or establish that a statement is true. You can use this benefit a number of times equal to PB per long rest.
Veiled Play. When completing the observation, you may gain 1 Arousal to grant the willing subject advantage on its next EROSave within 1 hour.
Unveiled Play. When completing the observation, you may spend 1 Libido to let the willing subject reduce its Arousal by 1. Each subject may receive this reduction once per long rest.
Still Point
10th-Level Subclass Feature
When you make a saving throw against being charmed or frightened, you may expend one Technique Die and add its roll after seeing your roll but before the outcome is declared. You cannot apply this feature and Iron Resolve to the same save.
Veiled Play. You may also use this feature’s Technique Die on an EROSave, with the same timing and restriction against combining it with Iron Resolve.
Unveiled Play. Once per turn, after succeeding on an EROSave against your chosen opponent, you may reduce your Arousal by 1. This option does not add a Technique Die to that save.
The Unbroken Interval
15th-Level Subclass Feature
Once per short or long rest, when you use Measured Opening, you may roll its Technique Die without expending it. All other restrictions apply.
Veiled Play. Once per short or long rest, after your own Climax resolves while you are conscious, you may move up to half your speed without opportunity attacks, requiring no action. This does not extend Last Measure.
Unveiled Play. Once per short or long rest, after your own Climax resolves, you may spend 1 Libido to regain one expended Technique Die, up to your normal maximum. This does not restore this feature’s ordinary free-technique use.
One Decisive Moment
18th-Level Subclass Feature
Once per long rest, as a bonus action, enter a perfect interval for 1 minute; it ends early if you are incapacitated. During it, Measured Opening’s damage die is rolled twice and you choose either result, and your chosen opponent has disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you.
Unveiled Play. once during this interval, after resolving your own Climax, you may spend 1 additional Libido to use Measured Opening once before the end of your next turn without expending a Technique Die. You must still hit, obey its once-per-turn limit, and pay the additional Libido after the normal Climax loss. Multiple free-use effects on the same technique do not produce extra uses or recovered dice.
Veiled Play. Once during the perfect interval, after your own Climax resolves, your chosen opponent has disadvantage on its next attack against you before the end of your next turn. This neither grants a free technique nor extends Last Measure.
Additional Information
Combat Identity
Precision striker and skirmisher who commits to one chosen opponent.
Desire Identity
Pressure and restraint compete: releasing Arousal for control delays the personal Last Measure.
Class Integration
You gain these features at Warbound levels 3rd, 7th, 10th, 15th, 18th. This subclass works through Conviction, Technique Dice, and the Last Measure. Use the costs, triggers, limits, and recovery stated in the individual features and parent class.
Using This Calling.
This Martial Calling grants features at Warbound levels 3, 7, 10, 15, and 18. It uses your existing Technique Dice and Technique Save DC; it creates no additional resource pool. Rolling a Technique Die without expending it uses your current die size. You cannot apply more than one Martial Technique or Calling feature that expends a Technique Die to the same attack.
Ritual and Social Use
Practice measured breath, courteous sparring, and witnessing without compelling a duel. The Ritual and Social Identity feature gives the applicable observance and its complete benefits; this guidance adds no additional ritual reward.
Example of Play
At 3 Arousal, you hit your chosen opponent and expend a Technique Die for Measured Opening. In Unveiled Play, you can remain at 3 and move 10 feet safely past that opponent, or reduce to 2 and move up to 15 feet past any threatened spaces. Both routes consume movement. An ally’s Climax grants you no additional benefit; your discipline is personal, not a harvest of another’s release.
Additional Rules
Choice and Presentation.
Declare the play mode before the scene. Desire effects require the table’s opt-in and never establish attraction, obedience, or consent. A player may decline an erotic effect on their character; resolve the baseline martial effect instead. Emotional pressure and release can be narrated through breath, devotion, fear, anticipation, or a fade to black. These rules add no separate Spent condition.
Canonical Desire Rules.
Follow the current Mechanics of Desire and the Warbound class. An EROSave uses a Constitution or Wisdom saving throw, chosen by the creature; add proficiency only if proficient in the chosen save. The normal limit of 3 Arousal gained during a single turn applies unless a rule explicitly overrides it. At Arousal 6, resolve the applicable Climax Effect and the Warbound’s Last Measure for the selected mode, reduce Libido by 1 where tracked, and reset Arousal to 0. These Calling features add only their stated benefits: they grant no universal 1d6 healing or automatic Exhaustion. At 0 Libido, apply Depletion and its normal consequences; a creature cannot spend Libido it lacks, but free martial and Desire features remain available unless a rule specifically restricts them. A reaction, free die use, or Climax rider does not provide an additional action, reaction, or use of Action Surge beyond what the class expressly grants.
Play Modes and Desire Resolution
Classic Play. Use the baseline feature and any expressly stated Classic alternative, without Arousal or Libido. A feature that only modifies Desire has no additional Classic effect.
Veiled Play. Use the baseline and the feature’s Veiled paragraph. Add each stated Arousal gain to the creature’s current total; never assign Composed, Stirred, or Overwhelmed or replace its existing pressure. Resolve Climax immediately at 6. Do not use the Unveiled paragraph.
Unveiled Play. Use the baseline and the feature’s Unveiled paragraph, together with the website’s full Arousal, Libido, Climax, and Depletion rules. Do not inherit the Veiled paragraph. A Libido expenditure requires enough Libido to pay it. Spending the final point does not disable benefits without a Libido cost.
Each feature retains its stated actions, targets, duration, resource costs, and recharge. Changing play modes restores no uses. A gain-dependent benefit requires the Arousal actually to be gained. Unless explicitly excepted, a creature gains at most 3 Arousal per turn; reductions cannot go below 0. Resolve Climax before continuing a feature or applying any after-Climax benefit: the applicable Climax Effect, 1 Libido loss where tracked, Arousal reset to 0, then applicable aftermath triggers. Healing and Exhaustion occur only when an applicable rule grants or imposes them. An EROSave is the creature’s choice of Constitution or Wisdom saving throw, including proficiency only if proficient in that save. Basic Desire Actions retain their one-per-round limit unless an explicit feature overrides it.
Subclass EROSaves use your Technique Save DC: 8 + PB + the Strength or Dexterity modifier chosen for Technique Dice. Other saving throws retain any DC expressly stated in the feature.
Deity Alignment
This Calling requires no deity worship. Your personal faith may shape the Conviction you bring to its discipline, but it grants no additional subclass powers or authority over another creature.
