Path of Devotion

“A burden shared is not diminished by denial. It is made survivable by devotion.”

The Path of Devotion is the relational expression of the Anointed calling. Its adherents believe divine grace becomes strongest when it passes between willing people: companions, families, lovers, oath-siblings, fellow pilgrims, and communities that choose to carry one another.

These Anointed are often called Keepers of Devotion. Their oldest sanctuaries were circles rather than towers—places where names were spoken aloud, promises were witnessed, and no wound, fear, or sorrow was permitted to belong to one heart alone.

The Path of Devotion turns the Anointed’s recovery engine into a network. Healing echoes between bonded allies. Saves are reinforced by another person’s strength. In Unveiled Play, Arousal, Libido, and the consequences of Climax can be shared or supported—but only through explicit willingness. The subclass never transfers pressure, cost, or consequence to an unwilling creature.

Thread of Devotion

3rd-Level Path of Devotion Feature

When you finish a Long Rest, choose a number of willing creatures equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Those creatures become your Devoted until you finish your next Long Rest. A creature can end its Devoted status at any time, no action required. While a Devoted creature is within 60 feet of you, you know whether it is conscious, Charmed, Frightened, or below half its hit point maximum. Once per turn, when you restore hit points to a Devoted creature with an Anointed spell, Sacred Ministration, or class feature, choose another Devoted creature within 30 feet of the first. The second creature gains temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Veiled Play. When one Devoted creature succeeds on an EROS Save because of one of your Anointed features, another Devoted creature within 30 feet gains temporary hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus.

Unveiled Play. Once per round, when a Devoted creature within 30 feet of another willing Devoted creature gains Arousal, either creature may choose to transfer 1 point of that gained Arousal to the other. Both creatures must consent to the transfer. The receiving creature may refuse after learning the amount to be transferred, and this feature can never raise the receiving creature above 5 Arousal.

Devotional Bond

3rd-Level Path of Devotion Feature

As a Bonus Action, expend 1 Grace and choose one Devoted creature you can see within 60 feet. For 1 minute, a visible or symbolic thread of divine connection binds you to that creature. The bond ends early if either of you is Incapacitated or if you are more than 60 feet apart. While bonded, both of you gain a +1 bonus to saving throws. Once per turn, when either of you restores hit points to the other, the healer gains temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Veiled Play. When either bonded creature succeeds on an EROS Save, the other gains advantage on its next EROS Save before the end of its next turn.

Unveiled Play. When either bonded creature would gain Arousal from a failed EROS Save, the other may use its Reaction to take 1 of that Arousal instead. Both creatures must be willing. The transfer occurs after the save is resolved and cannot raise the receiving creature above 5 Arousal.

Shared Grace

6th-Level Path of Devotion Feature

When a Devoted creature within 60 feet fails a saving throw, you can use your Reaction and expend 1 Grace to call on another conscious Devoted creature within 30 feet of it. That second creature rolls a d6 and adds the result to the failed saving throw, potentially turning failure into success. If the saving throw succeeds, both Devoted creatures gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus. You can use Shared Grace a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Veiled Play. Shared Grace can be used on an EROS Save. If it turns the failure into a success, both creatures may reduce their Arousal by 1.

Unveiled Play. When a Devoted creature within 30 feet Climaxes, another conscious and willing Devoted creature within 30 feet may use its Reaction and expend 1 Libido to prevent the Exhaustion caused by that Climax. The creature that spends Libido chooses freely whether to do so after the Climax is triggered. A creature can provide or receive this benefit only once per Long Rest.

Circle of the Faithful

11th-Level Path of Devotion Feature

As an Action, expend 2 Grace to create a 20-foot-radius aura of communal blessing centered on yourself for 1 minute. The aura moves with you and ends early if you are Incapacitated. While in the aura, your Devoted creatures have advantage on saving throws against being Charmed or Frightened, can stand from Prone by spending only 5 feet of movement, and may move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks once per turn after they restore hit points to another creature.

Veiled Play. Devoted creatures in the aura have advantage on EROS Saves.

Unveiled Play. When a Devoted creature Climaxes in the aura, each other willing Devoted creature in the aura chooses one: gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier, or reduce its Arousal by 1. A creature can benefit from this effect only once per round.

Vow That Holds

15th-Level Path of Devotion Feature

When a Devoted creature you can see within 60 feet would be reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your Reaction to invoke a sacred vow. The creature is reduced to 1 hit point instead. Each other willing Devoted creature within 30 feet of it may immediately move up to half its Speed toward it without provoking opportunity attacks. Once you use Vow That Holds, you cannot use it again until you finish a Long Rest, unless you expend 3 Grace to use it again.

Veiled Play. The protected creature gains advantage on its next EROS Save before the end of its next turn.

Unveiled Play. If the protected creature Climaxes before the end of its next turn, one other conscious and willing Devoted creature within 30 feet may use its Reaction to either restore 1 Libido to the protected creature after the Climax resolves or prevent the Exhaustion caused by that Climax. The assisting creature then gains 1 Arousal. This Arousal cannot raise it above 5.

Communion of the Unbroken

18th-Level Path of Devotion Feature

As an Action, you enter a state of radiant communal grace for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a Long Rest. For the duration, your Devoted creatures within 60 feet gain resistance to necrotic and psychic damage. Once per turn, when one Devoted creature regains hit points from an Anointed spell, Sacred Ministration, or class feature, another Devoted creature within 30 feet of it regains hit points equal to half that amount, rounded down. Once during the duration, when a Devoted creature within 60 feet fails a saving throw, you may choose for the communion to answer. If at least two other conscious Devoted creatures are within 60 feet of that creature, the failed saving throw becomes a success.

Veiled Play. Devoted creatures within 60 feet have advantage on EROS Saves, and when one succeeds, another Devoted creature within 30 feet gains temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Unveiled Play. Once during the duration, when a Devoted creature gains Exhaustion from a Climax, another conscious and willing Devoted creature within 30 feet may use its Reaction to take that Exhaustion instead. This transfer cannot reduce, erase, or transfer Exhaustion already possessed by either creature. In addition, whenever a Devoted creature Climaxes during the communion, one other willing Devoted creature within 30 feet may reduce its Arousal by 1.

Deity Alignment

Anointed of the Path of Devotion most commonly resonate with Solynth, whose faith sanctifies trust, chosen vulnerability and the power of freely given connection. Some also find kinship with Zenthira, through intimate truth and bonds that endure in private as well as in public, or Velyssara, through sacred connection, affection and the life-giving strength of mutual care. None of these relationships require worship. The path may arise anywhere people choose to carry one another’s burdens, discovering that devotion becomes strongest when connection remains freely given.
