The Verdant Keeper
“The world has never needed a ruler. It has always needed a voice.”
Long before the first kingdoms raised their walls, before temples crowned their hills, and before scholars sought to understand the mysteries of the Veil, the people of Erosia learned directly from the world itself. They watched forests reclaim forgotten ruins, rivers carve mountains into valleys, beasts follow ancient migrations beneath the light of the Three Mothers, and every fallen tree nourish countless lives yet to come. Within these endless transformations, they discovered a truth older than memory itself.
Life endures because the Living Circle never ceases to turn.
Those who devoted themselves to understanding that truth became the first Verdant Keepers.
A Verdant Keeper is not a master of nature. They do not bend the wilderness to their will, nor do they command beasts or forests through force. Instead, Terra, Flora, and Fauna have accepted them as one of their own, entrusting them to serve as the Speaker of the Living Circle. Where rivers cannot plead for mercy, forests cannot protest their destruction, and creatures cannot explain the needs of their home, the Verdant Keeper gives voice to the world that sustains them all.
Throughout Erosia, Verdant Keepers occupy a place unlike any other calling. They wander ancient forests whose names have been forgotten by history, guide villages through seasons of famine and abundance, restore lands scarred by corruption, and preserve traditions that existed long before civilization first gave names to the Three Mothers. Their wisdom is rarely found within books or temples. It is carried through stories shared beneath moonlit skies, lessons taught by patient mentors, and generations spent listening to the rhythms of a world that never truly falls silent.
Many mistake the Verdant Keeper for a simple guardian of the wilderness. The truth is far greater. They are guardians of the Living Circle itself. They understand that life is not preserved by resisting change, but by embracing it. Every birth carries the promise of growth. Every forest fire prepares the earth for renewal. Every predator feeds another generation. Even death serves life when the Circle is allowed to continue.
When conflict comes, the Verdant Keeper does not ask how nature may be used as a weapon. They ask what the Living Circle requires. Sometimes the answer is gentle rain nourishing wounded companions. Sometimes it is grasping roots restraining those who threaten the innocent. Sometimes it is the fury of a storm or the unstoppable patience of ancient stone. Whatever form it takes, their magic is never an act of domination. It is the world answering through one who has learned to listen.
The greatest Verdant Keepers are remembered not for the forests they protected nor the beasts they befriended, but because wherever they walked, the Living Circle continued to flourish. Their legacy is measured not in monuments of stone, but in thriving groves, healed lands, renewed communities, and lives forever changed by the quiet certainty that the world had not abandoned them.
Creating a Verdant Keeper
Every Verdant Keeper remembers the first time the Living Circle answered.
Perhaps it came while tending a dying grove that bloomed unexpectedly beneath your hands. Perhaps an injured beast approached without fear, trusting you before you understood why. You may have survived alone beneath the watchful light of the Three Mothers, discovering that the wilderness had never truly been your enemy. Whatever the moment, you emerged knowing that you no longer stood apart from the world around you. You had become one of its Speakers.
As you create your Verdant Keeper, consider how your character first came to understand the Living Circle. Were you raised among wandering keepers who passed their wisdom from generation to generation through spoken tradition? Did an elder teach you to read the language of rivers, forests, and stars before you ever learned to read written words? Perhaps your calling came unexpectedly, awakened by a moment of profound loss, extraordinary renewal, or quiet revelation beneath the open sky.
Consider what part of the Living Circle speaks most clearly to your heart. Some Verdant Keepers feel most at home among towering forests whose roots remember forgotten ages. Others follow migrating herds across endless plains, tend sacred wetlands, or safeguard mountains older than history itself. Many travel constantly, believing that no single place alone can reveal the whole truth of the Circle.
Think carefully about how your character views civilization. Some Verdant Keepers regard growing cities with quiet concern, fearing that people too easily forget the land that sustains them. Others serve as trusted advisors to rulers, believing that wisdom shared within palace walls can protect countless lives beyond them. Many move comfortably between village and wilderness alike, reminding every community that no settlement stands apart from the Living Circle that nourishes it.
Equally important is deciding how your Verdant Keeper carries the oldest traditions of Erosia. Across the world, nearly everyone knows the Three Mothers by name, yet few remember why they have always been called Mothers. Verdant Keepers preserve fragments of those earliest understandings through stories, seasonal rites, moonlit vigils, and quiet observation. They do not claim to possess every answer. Instead, they faithfully carry forward knowledge entrusted to them by generations who listened before them.
In Whispers of Erosia, the Mechanics of Desire reflect this relationship in a unique way. The Verdant Keeper does not experience Desire as ambition, temptation, or conquest. Every meaningful act that allows the Living Circle to continue deepens their connection to the world they serve. By awakening the dormant life held within sacred Seeds, they transform ordinary acts of primal magic into richer expressions of renewal, restoration, and transformation. Each such act draws them closer to Rebirth, the moment when the Living Circle itself answers through its chosen Speaker.
Above all, remember that a Verdant Keeper is defined not by the forms they assume or the spells they cast, but by the life they help continue. Anyone can admire the beauty of a forest. Few possess the wisdom to hear its voice, the humility to answer its call, and the resolve to protect the eternal Circle that binds every living thing beneath the Three Mothers.

- A scimitar or any simple melee weapon
- An explorer’s pack or a druid’s pack
- A herbalism kit
- A pouch containing a collection of carefully tended Seeds
The Seeds possess no mechanical benefit during Standard play. They may be acorns gathered beneath an ancient oak, moonflowers harvested beneath the Pearl Mother, polished nuts carried through generations of Verdant Keepers, rare spores preserved within carved wooden capsules, or countless other living vessels representing the endless potential of the Living Circle. To a Verdant Keeper, every Seed is a quiet promise that life always carries the possibility of becoming something more.

The Living Circle
Life is never still.
Forests rise where forgotten kingdoms once stood. Rivers patiently reshape mountains that seem eternal. Fallen trees nourish new saplings, predators strengthen the herds they pursue, and even the quiet decay of autumn prepares the earth for the coming spring. To most people, these are simply the ordinary rhythms of the natural world. To a Verdant Keeper, they reveal a deeper truth.
The Living Circle is the endless cycle through which all life is born, grows, transforms, dies, and gives rise to life once more. Nothing exists apart from it. Every creature, every forest, every ocean, every mountain, and every breath taken beneath the Three Mothers participates in this ancient rhythm. The Verdant Keeper’s calling is not to preserve the world exactly as it is, but to ensure the Circle continues without corruption or needless interruption.
Because of this, Verdant Keepers rarely see change as something to be feared. A wildfire may appear destructive, yet it clears the way for new growth. A flood reshapes the land while nourishing distant valleys. Even loss carries purpose when it allows life to continue. The Verdant Keeper does not celebrate suffering, nor do they seek it, but they understand that growth and transformation have always required change.
This understanding shapes the Verdant Keeper’s experience of the Mechanics of Desire unlike any other class.
Where others experience rising emotional pressure as ambition, temptation, conviction, or instinct, the Verdant Keeper experiences growing resonance with the Living Circle itself. Every act that restores balance, protects living things, nurtures growth, or allows the natural order to continue deepens that connection. They do not draw power from domination over nature. Instead, the Living Circle answers because it recognizes one who has devoted their life to serving it.
As that connection grows stronger, the Verdant Keeper begins to perceive the world differently. A quiet meadow reveals countless unseen relationships between roots, insects, fungi, and flowering plants. The call of migrating birds carries meaning beyond simple instinct. Ancient trees seem to remember those who once sheltered beneath their branches, while rivers whisper of distant places they have patiently shaped for generations. The world has always spoken. The Verdant Keeper has simply learned how to listen.
Each act of faithful service strengthens that conversation. Every companion restored, every corrupted land renewed, every frightened beast calmed, and every life preserved allows the Speaker to participate more fully in the Circle they have sworn to protect. The Living Circle does not reward conquest. It welcomes those who choose stewardship over possession, patience over control, and renewal over destruction.
The greatest Verdant Keepers understand that they are not the center of the Living Circle.
They are simply one voice within its endless song.
Rebirth

Every class experiences the rhythm of Desire differently because every class serves a different purpose within the world.
For the Verdant Keeper, Climax is Rebirth.
The Living Circle teaches that nothing can continue forever in its present form. Growth eventually exhausts itself. Seasons change. Leaves fall. Rivers alter their course. Even the mightiest forests renew themselves through countless quiet endings that make way for new beginnings. The Verdant Keeper accepts this truth not with sorrow, but with gratitude, for without endings there can be no renewal.
As their connection to the Living Circle deepens, emotional and spiritual pressure accumulates like the changing of the seasons. Every life preserved, every wilderness defended, every corruption cleansed, and every act of faithful stewardship strengthens the bond between Speaker and Circle. Eventually that growing resonance reaches its natural conclusion.
When it does, the Verdant Keeper experiences Rebirth.
Rebirth is not an eruption of uncontrolled power, nor is it simply a moment of personal release. It is a profound renewal in which the Speaker and the Living Circle briefly exist in perfect harmony. For a fleeting instant, the Verdant Keeper ceases to think of themselves as separate from the forests, rivers, mountains, beasts, and countless living things entrusted to their care. They become another expression of the Circle itself, transformed by the same eternal rhythm that governs all life.
To those who witness it, Rebirth is unmistakable. Dormant seeds awaken. Blossoms unfurl in moments. Moss spreads across barren stone. Gentle winds carry drifting petals, leaves, or spores through the air, while vines, roots, flowers, or shimmering emerald light briefly gather around the Verdant Keeper before fading naturally back into the world. No two Rebirths appear exactly alike, for each reflects the unique bond between the Speaker and the land they serve.
Unlike those who pursue power for its own sake, the Verdant Keeper does not seek Rebirth as an end unto itself. It is simply another turn of the Living Circle, a reminder that renewal follows every season of faithful service. With body, spirit, and purpose restored, the Speaker rises once more, ready to continue the work entrusted to them by Terra, Flora, and Fauna.
The greatest Verdant Keepers understand that every Rebirth is both an ending and a beginning.
The Living Circle has turned once more, and they are called to walk with it again.
Seeds
Every great forest begins with something small.
An acorn carried upon the wind. A drifting seed borne across the sea. A cone opened by fire. A single spore settling upon fertile earth. Within each rests far more than simple life. It carries possibility—the quiet promise that, given the proper season, every ending may become a beginning once more.
Verdant Keepers recognize this truth more clearly than anyone.
To them, a Seed is not merely the beginning of a plant. It is the purest symbol of the Living Circle itself. Every Seed contains dormant life awaiting the moment it is called to awaken. The Verdant Keeper does not create that life, nor do they command it. They simply provide the opportunity for it to become what the Living Circle presently requires.
As a Verdant Keeper, Seeds are your primary class resource.
Each Seed you carry has been carefully gathered, cultivated, and entrusted to your care through sacred tradition. Some are ordinary acorns collected from ancient groves. Others are moonflowers harvested beneath the Pearl Mother, crystalline spores preserved for generations, polished nuts carried by wandering Keepers, or living seeds whose origins have long since passed into legend. Though they differ in appearance, every Seed serves the same purpose.
Within each sleeps the potential for transformation.
Many of your class features allow you to awaken the dormant life contained within a Seed, releasing its living essence to strengthen your primal magic. A healing spell may bloom into restorative vines that weave together wounded flesh. A protective spell may call forth bark, blossoms, or intertwined roots. Magic that restrains an enemy may awaken into grasping vines, flowering briars, or ancient roots answering your call. The form changes according to the need, yet every expression remains part of the same eternal Circle.
As your understanding deepens, so too does your mastery over the life entrusted to your care. You learn to awaken Seeds more efficiently, carry greater numbers without diminishing their vitality, and transform their living essence into increasingly extraordinary expressions of primal magic. What begins as a handful of carefully tended Seeds eventually becomes a living extension of your bond with Terra, Flora, and Fauna.
The greatest Verdant Keepers never measure their strength by the number of Seeds they possess.
They measure it by the wisdom to know when each one should be allowed to bloom.
Transformation
The Living Circle is never passive.
Life continually changes to meet the needs of the world around it. A sapling grows into a towering oak. Caterpillars become butterflies. Rivers carve new paths through ancient stone. Creatures adapt to changing seasons, while forests reclaim lands long thought lost. Every living thing survives because it possesses the capacity to become something more than it was before.
The Verdant Keeper embraces this truth above all others.
To them, transformation is not the rejection of one’s nature. It is the fullest expression of it. Every creature already carries within itself countless possibilities waiting for the proper moment to emerge. The Verdant Keeper’s role is not to force change upon the world, but to awaken the potential that already exists within it.
This philosophy shapes every aspect of their magic.
When a Verdant Keeper calls forth grasping vines, those vines are not conjured from nothing. They awaken life already waiting beneath the soil. When they restore a wounded companion, they do not create healing. They encourage living flesh to remember how it was always meant to grow. Even the forms they assume through Wild Shape are not disguises, but acts of profound empathy that allow them to share, however briefly, in another creature’s place within the Living Circle.
Transformation is therefore the defining expression of the Verdant Keeper’s power.
By awakening the dormant life contained within their Seeds, they invite the Living Circle to answer through their magic. Every transformation reflects the immediate needs of the moment. Gentle blossoms become healing vines. Quiet roots become living restraints. Dormant spores awaken into clouds of renewal. The same life gives rise to countless forms because the Living Circle never limits itself to a single expression.
Every awakened Seed is an act of trust.
The Verdant Keeper entrusts its living essence to the Circle, confident that life will become precisely what the moment requires. They do not command nature to obey. They participate in its endless conversation, allowing transformation to unfold according to wisdom older than memory itself.
The greatest Verdant Keepers understand that true mastery is never measured by how completely they control the Living Circle.
It is measured by how completely they have learned to become part of it.
Spellcasting
1st-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle speaks through every forest, river, mountain, and living creature. By listening to its endless rhythms and honoring the ancient balance between Terra, Flora, and Fauna, you have learned to channel primal magic. Unlike arcane scholars who shape magic through study or divine servants who invoke the will of higher powers, a Verdant Keeper serves as a willing conduit through which the natural world expresses its own enduring strength.
Your magic reflects the boundless adaptability of life itself. It restores what has been wounded, encourages new growth, commands the forces of nature, and transforms both the land and yourself according to the needs of the Living Circle. Every spell you cast is another conversation with a world that has never ceased speaking.
Cantrips
At 1st level, you know two cantrips of your choice from the Verdant Keeper spell list. You learn additional Verdant Keeper cantrips as shown in the Cantrips Known column of the Verdant Keeper table.
Preparing and Casting Spells
The Verdant Keeper table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a Long Rest.
You prepare the list of Verdant Keeper spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the Verdant Keeper spell list. When you do so, choose a number of Verdant Keeper spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your Verdant Keeper level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
You can change your list of prepared spells whenever you finish a Long Rest. Preparing a new list of Verdant Keeper spells requires time spent in quiet communion with the Living Circle through meditation, tending sacred plants, observing the natural world, or another practice appropriate to your traditions.
Spellcasting Ability
Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Verdant Keeper spells, since your magic depends upon your understanding of the Living Circle and your ability to perceive its subtle rhythms.
You use your Wisdom whenever a Verdant Keeper spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Verdant Keeper spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell Save DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Spell Attack Modifier = your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Ritual Casting
You can cast any Verdant Keeper spell you have prepared as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag.
Spellcasting Focus
You can use a druidic focus as a spellcasting focus for your Verdant Keeper spells. Every Verdant Keeper eventually discovers that no spell is ever cast alone. Whether whispered beneath the boughs of an ancient forest, spoken into the wind atop a lonely mountain, or offered beside the quiet waters of a forgotten stream, each invocation becomes another thread woven into the endless conversation between the Speaker and the Living Circle.
Druidic
1st-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The oldest wisdom of the Living Circle was never preserved within books.
Long before kingdoms recorded their histories or temples inscribed sacred scripture, the first Verdant Keepers passed their knowledge from one generation to the next through spoken tradition, subtle symbols, seasonal rites, and careful observation of the world itself. Much of that ancient knowledge endures through Druidic, the secret language shared by those entrusted to speak for Terra, Flora, and Fauna.
More than a spoken tongue, Druidic is a living tradition. A circle of carefully placed stones, a branch bent toward the rising sun, patterns woven into flowering vines, or symbols carved into living bark may each carry meanings invisible to the uninitiated. Through these signs, Verdant Keepers leave warnings, offer guidance, preserve history, and recognize one another across vast distances without disturbing the natural harmony of the places they protect.
You know Druidic, the secret language of Verdant Keepers. You can speak the language and use it to leave hidden messages.
You and other creatures who know Druidic automatically notice such messages. Others notice the messages only if they succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check, but they cannot decipher them without magical assistance.
To a Verdant Keeper, Druidic is more than a means of communication.
It is a promise that the oldest voices of Erosia will never be forgotten, carried faithfully from one Speaker of the Living Circle to the next, just as they have been since the first people learned to listen to the world beneath the light of the Three Mothers.
Wild Shape

2nd-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle teaches that every creature possesses a purpose known only to itself.
The soaring eagle understands the freedom of open skies. The patient wolf knows the strength of the pack. The bear endures the turning of the seasons, while the smallest field mouse survives through vigilance and humility. Verdant Keepers do not seek to command these lives. Instead, they learn to walk beside them until the boundary between Speaker and creature briefly fades away.
Through your communion with the Living Circle, you can temporarily assume the form of a beast you have encountered, allowing you to experience the world through another place within nature’s endless rhythm.
As an action, you can magically assume the shape of a beast that you have seen before. You can use this feature twice. You regain expended uses of this feature when you finish a Short or Long Rest.
Your Verdant Keeper level determines the beasts you can transform into, as shown on the Beast Shapes table. At 2nd level, for example, you can transform into any beast with a Challenge Rating of 1/4 or lower that doesn’t have a flying or swimming speed.
Beast Shapes
| Verdant Keeper Level | Maximum CR | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| 2nd | 1/4 | No flying or swimming speed |
| 4th | 1/2 | No flying speed |
| 8th | 1 | None |
You can remain in a beast shape for a number of hours equal to half your Verdant Keeper level (rounded down). You then revert to your normal form unless you expend another use of this feature. You can revert to your normal form earlier by using a Bonus Action on your turn. You automatically revert if you fall Unconscious, drop to 0 Hit Points, or die.
While you are transformed, the following rules apply:
- Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast, though you retain your alignment, personality, and your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores.
- You also retain all your skill and saving throw proficiencies, in addition to gaining those of the creature. If the creature has the same proficiency as you and its bonus is higher than yours, use the creature’s bonus instead of yours.
- When you transform, you assume the beast’s Hit Points and Hit Dice. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of Hit Points you had before transforming. However, if you revert because you dropped to 0 Hit Points, any excess damage carries over to your normal form. As long as the excess damage doesn’t reduce your normal form to 0 Hit Points, you aren’t knocked Unconscious.
- You can’t cast spells, and your ability to speak or take actions requiring hands is limited by the capabilities of your beast form. Transforming doesn’t break your concentration on a spell you’ve already cast or prevent you from taking actions that are part of that spell, provided your new form is capable of performing them.
- You retain the benefit of any class, race, or other feature and can use them if your new form is physically capable of doing so. However, you can’t use any special senses, such as darkvision, unless your beast form also possesses those senses.
- You choose whether your equipment falls to the ground in your space, merges into your new form, or is worn by it. Worn equipment functions as normal, but the DM determines whether it is practical for your new form to wear a piece of equipment based on the creature’s size and shape. Equipment that merges with your form has no effect until you leave the form.
Veiled. The first time you use Wild Shape during an encounter, you gain 1 Arousal as you surrender yourself more completely to the rhythms of the Living Circle.
Unveiled. Whenever you assume a beast form, you may awaken one Seed as part of the transformation. If you do, the first Verdant Keeper spell you cast after returning to your normal form before the end of your next turn gains the benefits of that awakened Seed without expending an additional Seed.
Wild Shape is not an escape from your identity.
For a brief time, it is an act of profound empathy, allowing you to understand another life not as an observer, but as a willing participant in the endless turning of the Living Circle.
Druid Circle

2nd-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Though all Verdant Keepers serve the Living Circle, no two Speakers hear its voice in quite the same way.
Some devote themselves to the ancient forests where the oldest groves preserve memories older than civilization itself. Others find wisdom in the changing seasons, the migrations of beasts, the endless rhythm of the tides, or the quiet resilience of lands recovering from devastation. Each path reflects a different understanding of how Terra, Flora, and Fauna should be protected, nurtured, and allowed to flourish.
These traditions are known as Druid Circles.
A Druid Circle is more than a philosophy or place of learning. It is a lifelong commitment to a particular expression of the Living Circle. The lessons of a Circle shape not only the magic a Verdant Keeper wields, but the responsibilities they willingly accept in service to the natural world.
At 2nd level, choose a Druid Circle from those available to the Verdant Keeper class. Your choice grants you features at 2nd level and again at higher levels, as described in your Circle.
Although their customs differ, every Circle shares a common purpose. Whether restoring lands scarred by corruption, preserving ancient wilderness, guiding the passage of the seasons, or protecting the countless creatures that call Erosia home, each Verdant Keeper serves the same enduring truth.
The Living Circle belongs to no one.
It simply asks for faithful stewards willing to help it continue turning.
Veiled. Each Druid Circle expresses the Living Circle in its own way. Circle features that interact with Arousal describe those interactions in their individual feature descriptions.
Unveiled. Your Druid Circle determines how its unique features interact with Seeds, Transformation, and Rebirth. Those interactions are described in the Circle’s features rather than here.
Verdant Keeper’s Resilience
3rd-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
As your understanding of the Living Circle deepens, so too does your ability to call upon its oldest expressions of primal magic. Each passing season teaches another lesson. Every journey through untamed wilderness reveals another truth. Through patient stewardship rather than force, you learn to shape the living world with ever greater wisdom.
At 3rd level, your connection to Terra, Flora, and Fauna grants you access to more powerful spells.
You can now cast 2nd-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
The Living Circle is never hurried. It reveals its deepest mysteries only to those willing to observe, listen, and grow alongside it. Every new spell entrusted to your care represents another step in that lifelong journey of stewardship.
Ability Score Improvement
4th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Your understanding of the Living Circle continues to mature through every season observed, every creature protected, and every lesson learned from the natural world. As your wisdom and experience grow, so too does your ability to serve as the Living Circle’s faithful Speaker.
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
If your group uses the optional feat rules, you can forgo taking this feature to choose a feat for which you qualify.
Growth is the quiet promise carried within every living thing. Just as a mighty oak was once a single acorn, each lesson earned through patience, hardship, and stewardship prepares you for the greater responsibilities that lie ahead.
Wild Shape Improvement
4th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Your growing harmony with the Living Circle allows you to assume increasingly capable forms, each offering new perspectives upon the countless lives that share the world with you. Through every transformation, you deepen your understanding that strength, patience, speed, and resilience are not virtues possessed by a single creature, but gifts expressed differently throughout creation.
Beginning at 4th level, you can use Wild Shape to transform into a beast with a Challenge Rating of 1/2 or lower that doesn’t have a flying speed.
This improvement is reflected on the Beast Shapes table.
As your mastery grows, each new form becomes another voice through which the Living Circle teaches its timeless lessons. By walking in the footsteps of creatures stronger, swifter, or more enduring than those you first came to know, your understanding of Terra, Flora, and Fauna continues to expand.
Veiled. When you assume a beast form with a Challenge Rating higher than one you have previously mastered, you gain 1 Arousal as the Living Circle welcomes you into another expression of life. Once you gain Arousal from this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
Unveiled. The first time you assume a newly mastered beast form after finishing a Long Rest, you may awaken one Seed without expending it. If you do, choose one of the following benefits until you leave that Wild Shape:
- Increase your walking speed by 10 feet.
- Gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
- Add your Wisdom modifier (minimum +1) to one Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution ability check you make while transformed.
The Living Circle rewards those who continue to grow. Every new form you master reminds you that wisdom is not found by remaining unchanged, but by embracing the countless ways life adapts, survives, and flourishes.
Verdant Keeper’s Resilience
5th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle reveals its greatest mysteries gradually.
With each passing season, your understanding of Terra, Flora, and Fauna grows more complete. Forests speak through the whisper of their leaves, rivers through their endless journey toward the sea, and the creatures of the wild through the quiet wisdom carried in every instinct. As your bond with the Living Circle deepens, you become capable of shaping primal magic that reflects its oldest truths.
Beginning at 5th level, you can cast 3rd-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
The magic entrusted to you now reaches beyond simple restoration or protection. Ancient forests answer your call, storms heed your voice, and the resilient strength of the natural world becomes ever more evident through your spellcasting. Each new spell reminds you that the Living Circle does not exist to preserve the world as it is, but to help it continue becoming what it was always meant to be.
Veiled. Your growing mastery allows the Living Circle to answer more readily. Whenever you cast a 3rd-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell that restores hit points, creates or manipulates plants, or transforms a creature, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from casting a 3rd-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell, you may awaken one Seed as part of the same spell without using an additional action. That Seed enhances the spell as described by the feature or spell that awakened it.
The oldest Verdant Keepers teach that greater magic is never a sign of greater authority.
It is simply a sign that the Living Circle has entrusted you with a greater responsibility to help life endure.
Druid Circle Feature
6th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Your continued devotion to the Living Circle deepens your understanding of the path you have chosen.
The lessons of your Druid Circle have become second nature, shaping not only your magic but the way you perceive the world around you. Whether your Circle teaches the patient wisdom of ancient forests, the resilience of untamed wilderness, the harmony of beasts, or another sacred tradition, your role as a faithful steward continues to grow.
At 6th level, you gain the feature granted by your chosen Druid Circle.
The feature you gain reflects the unique philosophy of your Circle and further defines how you serve Terra, Flora, and Fauna. Though Verdant Keepers walk many different paths, every Circle exists to preserve the endless turning of the Living Circle and safeguard the balance upon which all life depends.
Veiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with the Mechanics of Desire, its Veiled effects are described within that feature.
Unveiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with Seeds, Transformation, or Rebirth, those interactions are described in the feature itself rather than here.
As your understanding of your Circle deepens, so too does your place within the Living Circle. Every lesson learned prepares you to become a wiser Speaker, entrusted with ever greater responsibilities in service to the living world.
Keeper of Ancient Wisdom
7th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle has become a familiar companion, revealing truths that once lay hidden beneath the ordinary rhythms of the natural world.
What once appeared to be isolated moments now form an unbroken tapestry. The migration of birds foretells the changing of the seasons. Rivers reveal the stories of distant lands through the stones they carry. Ancient trees preserve memories older than kingdoms, while every creature, from the smallest insect to the greatest predator, fulfills a purpose that strengthens the whole. By listening rather than commanding, you have learned to perceive the quiet harmony that binds all life together.
Beginning at 7th level, you can cast 4th-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
Your growing mastery allows you to invoke more profound expressions of primal magic. The Living Circle answers with greater clarity, entrusting you with spells capable of restoring devastated lands, protecting entire communities, and reshaping the battlefield through the patient strength of the natural world.
Veiled. Whenever you cast a 4th-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell that creates, restores, or transforms living matter, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from casting a 4th-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell, you may awaken one Seed as part of that spell. If the awakened Seed enhances a spell that targets one or more willing creatures, choose one target of that spell. That creature gains Temporary Hit Points equal to your Proficiency Bonus as the Living Circle’s vitality briefly surrounds it.
The oldest Verdant Keepers understand that wisdom is never measured by the number of spells one commands.
It is measured by knowing when the Living Circle should be allowed to speak, and when it asks only that its Speaker remain silent and listen.
Ability Score Improvement
8th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle teaches that growth is neither sudden nor accidental.
Each season leaves its mark upon the land. Every lesson learned, every hardship endured, and every life nurtured becomes part of the Speaker’s understanding of the world. Through years of faithful stewardship, your body, mind, and spirit mature together, preparing you to carry greater responsibilities in service to Terra, Flora, and Fauna.
When you reach 8th level, and again at 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
If your group uses the optional feat rules, you can forgo taking this feature to choose a feat for which you qualify.
The Living Circle asks only that those who walk beside it never cease growing. Every challenge overcome and every season witnessed prepares you to become an ever wiser Speaker, capable of protecting life in all its countless forms.
Wild Shape Improvement
8th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Your bond with the Living Circle now extends beyond the forests, rivers, and open plains to embrace the boundless skies above.
The first Verdant Keepers taught that no realm of nature exists apart from another. The winds that carry migrating birds shape the forests below. Rain falls from clouds to nourish the land before returning once more to the heavens. Every creature that soars upon unseen currents reminds you that the Living Circle knows no boundaries between earth and sky.
Beginning at 8th level, you can use Wild Shape to transform into a beast with a Challenge Rating of 1 or lower. Your beast forms may now have a flying speed.
This improvement is reflected on the Beast Shapes table.
With each new form you master, your understanding of the Living Circle becomes more complete. The patience of soaring hawks, the vigilance of owls, the effortless grace of seabirds, and the freedom carried upon the wind all become part of your own growing wisdom. Every transformation reminds you that no creature exists in isolation, and every life contributes to the harmony of the whole.
Veiled. The first time you assume a beast form with a flying speed after finishing a Long Rest, you gain 1 Arousal as your spirit embraces another expression of the Living Circle.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from this feature, you may awaken one Seed without expending it. Until you leave your Wild Shape, choose one of the following benefits:
- Your flying speed increases by 10 feet.
- Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.
- You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight or hearing.
The sky is not separate from the Living Circle.
It is simply another path through which life journeys, carried upon unseen currents that have guided the world since long before the first Speaker learned to listen.
Verdant Communion
9th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
Your communion with the Living Circle has grown beyond simple understanding into quiet partnership.
The forests no longer seem silent. Rivers carry stories upon their currents. Mountains reveal the patience of ages, while every living creature reflects another expression of the world’s enduring harmony. You have learned that the Living Circle does not merely surround you—it flows through every breath you take and every step you walk.
Beginning at 9th level, you can cast 5th-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
These ancient expressions of primal magic embody the Living Circle’s greatest acts of renewal and transformation. Vast groves answer your call, ancient spirits stir within the wilderness, and the life that surrounds you responds with a depth and certainty that few Speakers ever achieve. Every spell reminds you that the oldest powers of nature are neither violent nor gentle by their own nature. They simply become whatever the Living Circle requires.
Veiled. Whenever you cast a 5th-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell that restores life, transforms a creature, or creates enduring natural terrain, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from this feature, you may awaken one Seed as part of the same spell. If that spell affects one or more willing creatures, choose one affected creature. Until the start of your next turn, that creature gains Temporary Hit Points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) and has advantage on the next saving throw it makes.
The greatest Speakers eventually discover that the Living Circle does not grant greater magic because they have become more powerful.
It entrusts them with greater mysteries because they have learned to carry that responsibility with wisdom, humility, and reverence for every living thing that shares the world beneath the Three Mothers.
Druid Circle Feature
10th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The path you chose when you first embraced your Druid Circle has become inseparable from the Speaker you have become.
Years of faithful stewardship have refined your understanding of the Living Circle and strengthened your commitment to the traditions preserved by your Circle. What began as careful instruction has matured into instinctive wisdom, allowing you to express your Circle’s teachings with confidence and purpose. Whether you walk among ancient groves, safeguard the balance of wild places, or pursue another sacred calling, your service to Terra, Flora, and Fauna continues to deepen.
At 10th level, you gain the feature granted by your chosen Druid Circle.
The feature you gain reflects your growing mastery of your Circle’s philosophy and further defines the unique role you fulfill within the Living Circle. Though every Verdant Keeper follows a different path, all remain united by the same sacred responsibility: to preserve the endless rhythm through which life is born, grows, transforms, and begins anew.
Veiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with the Mechanics of Desire, its Veiled effects are presented within that feature.
Unveiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with Seeds, Transformation, or Rebirth, those interactions are described in the feature itself.
The Living Circle does not ask every Speaker to serve in the same way.
It asks only that each remain faithful to the path they have chosen, so that together they may preserve the harmony of a world that is forever growing, changing, and renewing itself.
Nature’s Ward
11th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle endures because life protects itself.
A forest shelters the countless creatures that dwell beneath its branches. Ancient trees shield young saplings from harsh winds. Rivers carve paths around obstacles rather than through them, while thriving ecosystems preserve themselves through countless unseen relationships. The Verdant Keeper comes to understand that true stewardship is more than encouraging growth. It is ensuring that life possesses the strength to endure whatever trials lie ahead.
Beginning at 11th level, you can cast 6th-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
These powerful expressions of primal magic allow you to call upon some of the oldest and most enduring forces within the Living Circle. Great forests answer your voice, the land itself responds to your presence, and your magic reflects the resilience that has sustained life since the world’s first dawn.
Veiled. Whenever you cast a 6th-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell that restores hit points, protects creatures, or transforms the battlefield into natural terrain, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from this feature, you may awaken one Seed as part of the same spell. If you do, choose one creature affected by that spell. Until the beginning of your next turn, that creature gains one of the following benefits of your choice:
- A +2 bonus to Armor Class.
- Resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks.
- Advantage on the next Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw it makes.
The oldest Verdant Keepers know that the Living Circle has survived not because it is without hardship, but because life has always found another way to endure. Every spell entrusted to your care becomes another promise that, so long as the Circle continues to turn, hope will always take root once more.
Ability Score Improvement
12th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle reveals that growth is a lifelong journey.
No tree reaches its full height in a single season, nor does a river carve its course in a single year. Every lesson patiently learned, every life protected, and every hardship endured becomes part of the wisdom that shapes a faithful Speaker. Through years of stewardship, your body, mind, and spirit continue to mature alongside the world you have devoted your life to preserving.
When you reach 12th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
If your group uses the optional feat rules, you can forgo taking this feature to choose a feat for which you qualify.
The Living Circle asks nothing more than continual growth. Every season offers another opportunity to become wiser, stronger, and better prepared to protect the endless rhythm of life entrusted to your care.
Voice of the Wild
13th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle has become as familiar to you as your own heartbeat.
You no longer hear the wilderness merely through sound or sight. The rustling of leaves speaks of changing seasons. The scent carried upon the wind reveals distant storms. Every creature, from the smallest insect to the mightiest predator, becomes another voice within an endless conversation that has echoed since life first took root beneath the Three Mothers.
Beginning at 13th level, you can cast 7th-level Verdant Keeper spells, as shown on the Verdant Keeper table.
These extraordinary expressions of primal magic embody the Living Circle’s power to preserve, transform, and renew on a monumental scale. Forests awaken, ancient spirits answer, and the world itself responds with a certainty reserved for those who have faithfully served as its Speaker through many seasons.
Veiled. Whenever you cast a 7th-level or higher Verdant Keeper spell that restores life, transforms creatures, or calls upon the enduring strength of the natural world, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from this feature, you may awaken one Seed as part of the same spell. If you do, choose one creature affected by the spell. Until the end of your next turn, that creature gains one of the following benefits of your choice:
- It gains a flying speed equal to its walking speed.
- It ignores difficult terrain created by plants or natural features.
- It regains Hit Points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) at the start of its next turn.
The greatest Verdant Keepers understand that the Living Circle never grants its oldest mysteries to those who seek power alone.
It entrusts them to those who have proven, season after season, that they will always use them to ensure life continues to flourish.
Druid Circle Feature
14th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The path you chose has become a defining part of your service to the Living Circle.
Through years of faithful stewardship, your understanding of your Druid Circle has matured into quiet mastery. The lessons once taught through careful instruction now arise through instinct, experience, and unwavering devotion to Terra, Flora, and Fauna. Whether your Circle calls you to defend ancient wilderness, restore lands scarred by corruption, walk beside the beasts of the world, or fulfill another sacred calling, you have become one of its most accomplished Speakers.
At 14th level, you gain the feature granted by your chosen Druid Circle.
This feature represents the culmination of your Circle’s teachings, reflecting both your personal growth and your enduring commitment to the philosophy that has guided your journey. Though every Circle serves the Living Circle in its own way, each exists to ensure that life continues to flourish through growth, transformation, renewal, and faithful stewardship.
Veiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with the Mechanics of Desire, its Veiled effects are described within that feature.
Unveiled. If your Druid Circle feature interacts with Seeds, Transformation, or Rebirth, those interactions are presented in the feature itself.
The Living Circle has no need for perfect guardians.
It asks only for those who will continue listening, season after season, answering its call with wisdom, humility, and the unwavering resolve to protect the life entrusted to their care.
Timeless Body
18th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The Living Circle measures life not by the passing of years, but by the purpose those years fulfill.
After a lifetime spent in faithful communion with Terra, Flora, and Fauna, your body begins to reflect the enduring rhythm of the world itself. The seasons continue to turn around you, yet their passage leaves only the gentlest mark upon your form. Like an ancient oak that grows ever stronger despite the centuries or a mountain stream that remains forever clear despite countless winters, you become another enduring expression of the Living Circle.
Beginning at 18th level, the primal magic flowing through you slows the effects of age.
For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year.
In addition, you can’t be aged magically.
The Living Circle does not preserve you because it fears death. It simply recognizes that your wisdom has become too valuable to lose before its appointed season. While all living things must one day complete their place within the Circle, your journey continues at the patient pace of the oldest forests and the slow turning of the mountains.
Veiled. This feature has no additional effects during Veiled Play.
Unveiled. Whenever you complete a Long Rest after experiencing Rebirth, you may remove one effect causing you to be Charmed or Frightened, or you may end one disease affecting you. The Living Circle continually renews those who have learned to walk in harmony with its eternal rhythm.
The oldest Verdant Keepers often become living legends, not because they refuse the passage of time, but because they have learned to walk beside it. Their greatest gift is not extraordinary longevity, but the countless generations they guide before quietly returning their own lives to the Living Circle that has sustained them from the beginning.
Beast Spells
18th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature
The boundary between your own form and every other living creature has become all but indistinguishable.
What began as brief moments of shared understanding through Wild Shape has matured into perfect harmony with the Living Circle. Whether walking upon two legs or four, soaring upon great wings, or swimming beneath ancient waters, your voice continues to carry the same primal authority. The Living Circle recognizes the Speaker, not the shape they wear.
Beginning at 18th level, you can cast many of your Verdant Keeper spells while using Wild Shape.
You can perform the somatic and verbal components of a Verdant Keeper spell while in a beast shape, but you aren’t able to provide material components.
Veiled. The first time you cast a Verdant Keeper spell while using Wild Shape during an encounter, you may gain 1 Arousal after the spell resolves.
Unveiled. Whenever you voluntarily gain Arousal from casting a Verdant Keeper spell while using Wild Shape, you may awaken one Seed as part of that spell without expending an additional action. If the spell is enhanced by that awakened Seed, you may remain in your beast form after casting the spell, even if the spell would normally require gestures or words impossible for an ordinary beast to perform.
To those who witness such mastery, the distinction between Verdant Keeper and the natural world becomes almost impossible to perceive.
The eagle that calls down healing rain, the wolf that speaks through living vines, and the bear whose roar awakens ancient roots are no longer merely beasts wearing another’s shape. They are the Living Circle itself answering through one of its most faithful Speakers.
Archdruid
20th-Level Verdant Keeper Feature

You have become one of the greatest Speakers the Living Circle has ever known.
The distinction between your life and the world around you has all but vanished. Forests welcome your passing without fear. Beasts recognize you as a trusted companion rather than an outsider. The winds, waters, and ancient stones answer your presence as naturally as they answer the turning of the seasons. You no longer serve the Living Circle as one who merely listens to its voice. You have become one of its enduring expressions.
Beginning at 20th level, you can use your Wild Shape feature an unlimited number of times.
In addition, you can ignore the verbal and somatic components of your Verdant Keeper spells, as well as any material components that lack a cost and aren’t consumed by the spell. You gain this benefit in both your normal form and while using Wild Shape.
The Living Circle now answers your call with effortless certainty. Whether walking as yourself or assuming the form of another creature, your magic flows without interruption, reflecting a lifetime spent in faithful harmony with Terra, Flora, and Fauna.
Veiled. Whenever you enter Wild Shape, you may gain 1 Arousal. If you do, the first Verdant Keeper spell you cast before the end of your next turn is treated as though you had awakened one Seed for it, even if you expend no Seed.
Unveiled. Rebirth marks the completion of one turn of the Living Circle and the beginning of another. Whenever you experience Rebirth, choose one of the following benefits:
- Regain one expended spell slot of 5th level or lower.
- Awaken one Seed without expending it. The next Verdant Keeper spell you cast before the end of your next turn gains its benefits.
- Immediately use Wild Shape without expending a use of the feature. If you are already in a beast form, you may instead transform into another beast form you are capable of assuming.
The greatest Verdant Keepers are never remembered because they commanded nature.
They are remembered because, through unwavering stewardship, they became so completely attuned to the Living Circle that the world itself answered whenever they were needed. Their names fade with time, as all names eventually do, but the forests they restored, the lands they renewed, and the lives they protected continue to flourish long after they have quietly returned to the Circle they spent a lifetime serving.
