Fleshwright

“The body is a living work, and its owner holds the final word.”
Lore Overview
Fleshwrights work with responsive membranes, living inks, and carefully fitted stimulators. They can heighten or quiet sensation and invite a consenting body to become something new: skin that toughens, limbs that adapt, or a form that answers a new environment. Their craft treats the living flesh as both a source of sensation and a medium for intentional change.

Living Fleshcraft
3rd-Level Relicwright Feature
Gain proficiency in Medicine or with alchemist’s supplies; if proficient in both, gain proficiency with another artisan’s tool. Prepare three removable living applications at the end of a long rest. They are reusable, require no attunement, and do not use Imbued Creation slots. Each is a Tiny patch, sculpting gel, or flexible band.
As an action, touch a conscious willing creature wearing one application and expend 1 Spark to grant one modification for 1 hour. Supple Form: increase walking speed by 10 feet and gain a climbing speed equal to walking speed. Waterform: gain a swimming speed equal to walking speed and breathe air and water. Hardened Flesh: gain temporary hit points equal to 1d6 + your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1) and, while any remain, add 1 to AC. Temporary hit points last for the modification’s duration. The wearer chooses the visible form. Maintain two modified creatures at once, one modification each; a new one ends a prior modification of your choice. A wearer can end its modification at any time.
Veiled Play. When the modification is applied, the wearer may gain 1 Arousal; if it does, its speed increases by 5 feet until the end of its next turn. Unveiled Play. When applying the modification, you may spend 1 Libido; the wearer may gain or reduce 1 Arousal and gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. These temporary hit points do not stack with Hardened Flesh’s.
Sensory Attunement
3rd-Level Relicwright Feature
As a bonus action, expend 1 Spark to activate an application worn by a willing creature you can see within 30 feet. Choose Awaken or Calm. Awaken gives it advantage on its next Strength or Dexterity ability check within 1 minute; Calm lets it add 1d4 to its next Constitution or Wisdom saving throw within 1 minute. This does not require an active modification.
Veiled Play. The wearer may gain 1 Arousal when you choose Awaken, or reduce Arousal by 1 when you choose Calm. Unveiled Play. When you activate Calm, you may spend 1 Libido to let the wearer reduce Arousal by 2 instead; when you activate Awaken, the wearer may gain 1 Arousal to gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus for 1 minute.
Fleshcraft Rite
3rd-Level Relicwright Feature
During a short or long rest, spend 10 minutes with a willing creature fitting an application to its requested needs. Until its next long rest, it can add 1d4 to one Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution ability check of its choice. A creature can receive this benefit once per long rest.
Veiled Play. At the rite’s end the wearer may gain 1 Arousal to receive advantage on its next EROSave before its next long rest. Unveiled Play. At the rite’s end the wearer may spend 1 Libido to reduce its Arousal by 1. The process does not permanently alter the wearer.
Responsive Flesh
7th-Level Relicwright Feature
When a modified creature you can see within 30 feet takes acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder damage, use your reaction and expend 1 Spark to give it resistance to that triggering instance of damage. Describe the flesh’s response with the wearer’s agreement.
Veiled Play. After the damage resolves, the wearer may gain 1 Arousal to move 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. Unveiled Play. After the damage resolves, the wearer may spend 1 Libido to retain that resistance until the start of your next turn.
Revision at Release
11th-Level Relicwright Feature
You can maintain modifications on three creatures. As a bonus action, change a willing modified creature’s modification to another option while you can see it within 30 feet. The original duration remains; changing to Hardened Flesh does not refresh temporary hit points already granted by that activation.
Veiled and Unveiled Play. After you or a modified creature you can see within 30 feet resolves Climax, you may use your reaction to revise one willing modified creature you can see within 30 feet and give it temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus for 1 minute. Use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. This does not replace the class’s Breakthrough or reset the modification’s duration.
Unveiled Play. When using this reaction, you may spend 1 Libido to let that creature reduce its Arousal by 1.
Masterwork Metamorphosis
15th-Level Relicwright Feature
As an action once per long rest, touch a conscious willing application wearer and grant it a masterwork form for 10 minutes, requiring concentration as if on a spell. It replaces that wearer’s existing modification and occupies one maintained slot. Choose two different Living Fleshcraft modifications. The wearer gains both, temporary hit points equal to twice your Relicwright level, and resistance to one damage type from Responsive Flesh. The wearer chooses the form and may end it at any time.
Veiled Play. Once during the form, after the wearer resolves Climax, it can regain 2d6 hit points. Unveiled Play. Once during the form, when the wearer would gain Arousal, it may spend 1 Libido to reduce that gain by up to 2. This does not interrupt a Climax already triggered.
Additional Information
Combat Identity
An adaptive support artisan who prepares willing bodies for the demands of an expedition. Living Fleshcraft supplies mobility, aquatic adaptation, or protection; Sensory Attunement supports physical effort or a crucial saving throw. Responsive Flesh answers elemental harm, and the later features let you revise an existing adaptation or combine two into a masterwork form.
Desire Identity
Arousal expresses the living body responding to deliberate stimulation and alteration. Awaken invites escalation; Calm offers its stated reduction. Libido pays for selected refinements and sustained protection. At 11th level, Revision at Release turns your own or a modified creature’s Climax into a chance to revise and protect another willing modified creature, without replacing the Relicwright’s Breakthrough.
Class Integration
Choose this Inventor Specialty at Relicwright level 3. It grants features at levels 3, 7, 11, and 15 and uses your existing Sparks, spell save DC, and Breakthrough. It does not add another specialty or replace your spellcasting, Sparkcraft, or Imbued Creations.
Spark Recovery. In Veiled Play, your first Spark expenditure on a Relicwright feature during an encounter gives you 1 Arousal after that feature resolves. In Unveiled Play, this occurs once per turn. Apply the feature’s selected play-mode effects separately; spending more than one Spark does not multiply Spark Recovery’s gain.
Breakthrough. After resolving your own Climax, the next Relicwright feature you activate that normally costs 1 Spark costs 0 Sparks until the end of your next turn, provided Breakthrough’s once-per-long-rest benefit is available. All other conditions and costs remain. Apply Breakthrough’s selected play-mode benefit from the Relicwright class. No Spark is spent, so Spark Recovery does not trigger. A specialty’s separate release benefit does not grant another Breakthrough use.
Ritual and Social Use
Fleshcraft Rite is a consultation as much as a fitting. The wearer names the sensation, appearance, and practical need the application should answer. A Fleshwright might prepare a climber for a difficult ascent, fit an application before a river crossing, or demonstrate a temporary form chosen for a ceremony. Its listed bonus and play-mode options are the full mechanical reward; the rite grants no permanent alteration.
Example of Play
At 3rd level, a willing companion wears one of your prepared applications. You touch the conscious wearer, use your action, and spend 1 Spark to grant Waterform for 1 hour. The companion gains the listed swimming speed and the ability to breathe air and water. In Veiled Play, the wearer may gain 1 Arousal for the brief additional speed benefit. Your own Spark Recovery gain is resolved separately after the feature, if its trigger is available.
At 11th level, you can use a bonus action to change that companion’s modification without restarting its original duration. If a qualifying Climax later triggers Revision at Release, its revision uses your reaction and one of that feature’s limited uses. You cannot also spend the same reaction on Responsive Flesh. Your own Climax may make Breakthrough available under its separate class limit.
Additional Rules
Prepare three reusable applications after a long rest. They require no attunement and do not occupy Imbued Creation slots. Before 11th level, maintain at most two modified creatures, with one modification each; Revision at Release raises that creature limit to three. An application wearer is not automatically a modified creature: the modification must actually have been activated.
Changing to Hardened Flesh through Revision at Release does not refresh temporary hit points already granted by that activation. Masterwork Metamorphosis replaces the wearer’s existing modification, occupies a maintained slot, and requires concentration as if on a spell. Its two chosen modifications and listed protection do not permanently change the wearer or increase your other maintenance limits.
Unless a feature names another save, use your Relicwright spell save DC: 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier. Build or prepare the reusable apparatus with appropriate proficient artisan’s tools or tinker’s tools during a long rest. Cosmetic description grants no unlisted range, target, damage, duration, or benefit.
Play Modes and Desire Resolution
Use the current Mechanics of Desire for the shared limits and resolution. A creature normally gains at most 3 Arousal during one turn unless a rule explicitly provides an exception. A benefit conditional on gaining or reducing Arousal requires that change actually to occur, and reductions cannot take the total below 0. An EROSave uses Constitution or Wisdom as allowed by the shared rules, with proficiency only when proficient in the chosen saving throw.
At 6 Arousal, resolve the applicable Climax Effect, reduce Libido by 1 where tracked, reset Arousal to 0, and then resolve eligible aftermath features. Healing, Exhaustion, and Spark recovery occur only when an applicable rule grants or imposes them. Pay any optional post-Climax Libido cost after the normal Libido loss. Changing play modes restores no expended uses, charges, reactions, or resources.
Your creations cannot determine attraction, consent, identity, or lasting feelings. A willing participant can stop using a preparation, transformation, or device as its feature permits. Agree on the sensory description; emotional or magical resonance and veiled description use the same mechanics.
- Classic Play. Use baseline effects and any expressly stated Classic alternative without tracking Arousal or Libido. A feature that only responds to or changes Desire supplies no extra Classic benefit.
- Veiled Play. Use the baseline feature and its Veiled option. Add each stated Arousal gain to the creature’s current total; apply an expressly stated reduction numerically. Features do not assign or replace a Desire state. If a gain reaches 6 Arousal, resolve Climax immediately before continuing. Do not also apply the Unveiled option.
- Unveiled Play. Use the baseline feature and its Unveiled option, plus any effect explicitly labeled for both modes. The two mode-specific alternatives do not stack. Spend Libido only when the feature permits it and you have enough to pay the cost; a feature without a Libido cost remains available subject to its normal requirements.
Deity Alignment
Threxia, the Author of Flesh, is a natural affinity for artisans who treat transformation as self-authorship. Velyssara may be honored through living sensation, care, and chosen becoming. Neither faith is required. The wearer chooses the visible form and may end the modification as its feature permits; a deity’s symbolism grants no additional transformation.
