Draconic Current
The first voice is ancient. The answer is your own.
Lore Overview
The Draconic Current often speaks first to an awakening Bloodborn. Its expression is an ancient certainty carried through a mortal conduit: breath held, intent gathered, power given direction. Practitioners learn to focus Communion rather than scatter it, allowing each release to reveal something of the majesty that first answered them. This path requires neither draconic ancestry nor a dragon patron.
A focused striker whose Communion gathers behind a single decisive spell. Arousal expresses mounting draconic presence, Libido sustains exceptional exertion, and Manifestation releases a controlled breath of primordial force.
Subclass Features
| Bloodborn Level | Feature |
|---|---|
| 3rd | Voice beneath the Breath |
| 3rd | Rite of the Listening Ember |
| 6th | Scales of Communion |
| 10th | Breath of the Unveiled Current |
| 14th | Wings of Answering Breath |
| 18th | The Ancient Voice Made Present |
Voice beneath the Breath
3rd-Level Bloodborn Feature
Choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison as your draconic expression. This choice describes your magic, not a newly established dragon lineage. Once on each of your turns when a Bloodborn spell damages a creature, spend 1 Flux to deal an additional 1d6 damage of that type to one creature damaged by the spell. This becomes 2d6 at level 10 and 3d6 at level 18. If the spell is Manifested, this benefit costs no Flux.
Veiled Play. When paying this feature’s Flux cost, you may gain 1 Arousal instead. Apply the gain before the extra damage; the triggering spell cannot retroactively become Manifested.
Unveiled Play. When paying this feature’s Flux cost at Arousal 3–5, add your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) to its extra damage. You may gain 1 Arousal after resolving the damage; this gain does not replace the Flux cost.
Rite of the Listening Ember
3rd-Level Bloodborn Feature
After 10 minutes of quiet breathing with one willing companion, give it advantage on its next Charisma (Persuasion) check made within 1 hour to introduce itself or request an audience. You may lead this rite once per long rest; it compels no hospitality.
Veiled Play. You may gain 1 Arousal to also give the companion advantage on its next EROSave within that hour.
Unveiled Play. You may spend 1 Libido to reduce the companion’s Arousal by 1 and your own by 1. The rite cannot reverse a Climax.
Scales of Communion
6th-Level Bloodborn Feature
You gain resistance to your draconic expression’s damage type. After casting a Manifested Bloodborn spell, gain temporary hit points equal to your Bloodborn level. In Classic Play, you can instead gain these hit points after spending at least 2 Flux on one spell. You can gain this protection PB times per long rest, shared across triggers.
Veiled Play. When gaining this protection, you may gain 1 Arousal to increase the temporary hit points by PB.
Unveiled Play. When gaining this protection, you may spend 1 Libido to grant another willing creature within 30 feet temporary hit points equal to half the amount you gained, rounded down.
Breath of the Unveiled Current
10th-Level Bloodborn Feature
Once on each of your turns after your Manifested spell resolves, choose a 15-foot cone originating from you. Each creature of your choice in it makes a Dexterity save, taking 3d6 damage of your draconic expression’s type on a failure, or half on a success. This requires no action. In Classic Play, activate the cone after a levelled Bloodborn spell by spending 3 Flux; you may do so PB times per long rest.
Veiled Play. You may gain 1 Arousal after the cone resolves to move 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
Unveiled Play. You may spend 1 Libido before the cone resolves to extend it to 30 feet. The cone’s damage cannot itself activate Voice beneath the Breath.
Wings of Answering Breath
14th-Level Bloodborn Feature
As a bonus action, spend 3 Flux to manifest spectral wings for 10 minutes, gaining a flying speed equal to your walking speed. They end if you are incapacitated. Casting a Manifested spell while the wings exist increases your flying speed by 20 feet until the end of that turn.
Veiled Play. When you activate the wings, you may gain 1 Arousal to reduce their Flux cost by 1.
Unveiled Play. When you activate the wings, you may spend 1 Libido instead of 3 Flux. Once before they end, after your own Climax resolves, you may fly up to half your flying speed without an action or opportunity attacks.
The Ancient Voice Made Present
18th-Level Bloodborn Feature
Once per long rest, as a bonus action, embody your draconic expression for 1 minute. You gain immunity to its damage type and may use Breath of the Unveiled Current after a levelled Bloodborn spell without its Classic Flux cost, once per turn. Its cone deals 4d6 damage. The embodiment ends if you are incapacitated.
Veiled Play. After your own Climax resolves during the embodiment, you may fly up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks, requiring no action. If you have no flying speed, you instead move up to half your walking speed.
Unveiled Play. After your own Climax resolves during the embodiment, you may move the next cone’s origin to a point you can see within 30 feet. This applies once to the cone following your resulting Manifested spell.
Draconic Current Spell Tradition
The following thirty entries offer five cantrips and five spells at each spell level from 1st through 5th. They give this Current its own casting language and routes into Communion. They are additional options for learning Bloodborn spells, not thirty spells automatically known.
Cantrips · 1st Level · 2nd Level · 3rd Level · 4th Level · 5th Level
Learning and Casting
Beginning when you choose this Current at Bloodborn level 3, its entries join your available Bloodborn spell choices. Learn or replace them only when the class normally allows you to learn or replace a spell or cantrip, obeying your spells-known and cantrips-known limits. You gain no immediate free selections. You must be able to learn the spell’s level through Bloodborn Spellcasting; multiclass spell slots alone do not qualify you. An entry already on the Bloodborn list remains the same spell, not a duplicate selection.
Every entry uses the original spell’s SRD 5.1 / 2014 rules. The Erosian title is an alternate name, not an additional spell. Retain its casting time, range, targets, components and material costs, concentration, duration, damage types, ordinary saving throws, and higher-slot rules. These entries grant no ritual-casting ability. A different edition requires an explicit table conversion; do not silently combine versions.
Communion: Shared Limits
In Veiled Play or Unveiled Play, the entry’s stated outcome allows you—the Bloodborn caster—to gain 1 Arousal immediately after that outcome. You may decline. Across all Current Spell Tradition entries, you can gain at most 1 Arousal per turn, and each casting can grant it only once over its entire duration. A multi-target hit, repeated attack, ongoing field, summoned creature, or repeated benefit from the same casting grants no extra Communion. Mark that casting when its gain is taken. If the full gain cannot occur under the shared rules, it grants no gain-dependent benefit.
This spell-entry limit is separate from explicitly granted subclass gains, but all gains still obey the Mechanics of Desire’s overall limit of 3 per turn. When the entry’s gain brings you to 6, resolve Climax immediately and prepare Manifestation under the Bloodborn class. The spell whose outcome triggered the gain cannot retroactively become Manifested. Spending Flux, casting a listed spell, or describing heightened emotion alone grants no Arousal.
Outcomes must address an existing encounter, injury, obstacle, or hazard. Deliberately injuring companions, breaking and repairing objects, creating trivial obstacles, asking allies to pretend hostility, or repeatedly staging a success grants no Communion. A hostile creature must genuinely oppose you or your companions in the encounter. A spell cast through another class, a scroll, an item, or an NPC grants no spell-tradition Communion unless it is explicitly cast as your Bloodborn spell.
Presentation and Manifestation
Classic Play uses the referenced spell without the Communion riders. Veiled Play and Unveiled Play each use only their own entry paragraph; their matching outcomes are alternatives, never two gains. Expression describes casting imagery only. Spectral wings, sheltering hands, scales, elemental boundaries, warmth, or radiance add no unlisted light radius, creature, movement, damage, protection, transformation, or authority.
A Manifested spell uses the Bloodborn’s applicable mode-specific Manifestation rules and the Current’s eligible subclass features. No entry grants a second Manifestation package, additional action, or free spell. Titan entries confer none of a named Titan’s Summoner-specific benefits. An ordinary spell save stays its named save; Communion does not turn it into an EROSave. Magic never establishes consent to intimacy or changes a player character’s lasting identity or feelings.

Additional Information
Class Integration
Choose this Primordial Current at Bloodborn level 3. It grants features at levels 3, 6, 10, 14, and 18 and replaces, rather than adds to, any other Bloodborn subclass. No ancestry, size, deity, patron, or summoned companion is required. Your spellcasting, Flux, Metamagic, and Manifestation remain those of the Bloodborn class.
Combat and Desire Identity
A focused striker whose Communion gathers behind a single decisive spell. Arousal expresses mounting draconic presence, Libido sustains exceptional exertion, and Manifestation releases a controlled breath of primordial force.
Ritual and Social Use
The level-3 rite states this Current’s ritual benefit, participants, duration, and recovery. Its symbolic language may be expressed through emotional, mystical, or devotional play. Participation requires no intimacy, revelation of secrets, or prescribed feelings. A willing participant may decline; no feature establishes consent.
Example of Play
At 5 Arousal in Veiled Play, use Voice beneath the Breath and accept 1 Arousal instead of its Flux cost. Resolve Climax, then finish the extra damage. Your next eligible Bloodborn spell is Manifested; at level 10 its resolution can also release your cone. The spell that built the pressure gains no retroactive Manifestation.
Play Modes and Desire Resolution
Classic Play uses the ordinary feature paragraphs without Arousal or Libido. Veiled Play uses the ordinary paragraph and only its Veiled rider. Unveiled Play uses the ordinary paragraph and only its Unveiled rider; the two riders never stack. Arousal increases by the stated number, determining the resulting state through the shared rules rather than assigning Composed, Stirred, or Overwhelmed directly. At 6, resolve the applicable Climax Effect, reduce Libido by 1 where tracked, reset Arousal to 0, and resolve the relevant aftermath. No automatic healing or Exhaustion is added by this subclass. Use the website’s Depletion rules at 0 Libido.
Use your Bloodborn spell save DC for saves caused by this subclass. An EROSave uses the target’s choice of Constitution or Wisdom saving throw, including applicable proficiency. PB means proficiency bonus. A gain-dependent benefit requires the full Arousal gain actually to occur; the normal maximum of 3 gained per turn applies. Reductions cannot undo a triggered Climax. Libido costs require sufficient Libido and do not replace other costs unless expressly stated. Temporary hit points never stack. Flux recovery follows the Bloodborn class. Only features that explicitly grant Arousal do so.
Manifestation Integration
Communion remains the Bloodborn’s expression of Arousal, not a new pool. Your own Climax prepares the class’s next qualifying Manifested spell; it does not grant a free cast or extra action. Use the base class’s casting window and Manifestation choices. When a feature triggers after spell damage or resolution, its release cannot retroactively enhance that spell. A feature declared before casting may prepare Manifestation for that cast, as stated. Each subclass effect applies only once to a given spell unless explicitly stated otherwise. Other creatures’ Climaxes grant no additional benefit through this Current unless a feature expressly says so.

A Primordial Current is not granted by worship. A conduit may honor Velyssara through life, desire, and transformation, or follow another faith without altering these features. No named Titan, dragon, giant, or Sovereign becomes a patron or grants authority merely because this subclass is chosen.

Ancestry: Chromatic and Metallic Resonance
This Current can express either Chromatic or Metallic draconic resonance. Its spiritual legacy reaches back to the dragons’ Rite of Descent: their souls endured in mortal form, while much of their relinquished power dispersed through the Veil. Dracari therefore show a stronger ancestral affinity, but other peoples may awaken to the same echoes. Neither family assigns alignment or moral worth.
Choose an ancestral family or a more specific legacy as part of your character’s history. It grants no additional breath weapon, resistance, spell, or feature, and does not change Voice beneath the Breath’s listed damage choices. Unknown or mixed ancestry remains valid; existing Dracari lineages need not match a single traditional color.
See Primordial Magic: Ancestry and Awakening for the shared lineage framework. These are expressions within the four Currents, not additional subclasses.
