“Every spell is an equation. Every equation is a conversation with reality.”
The Sigilwright
Where others see mystery, the Sigilwright sees structure.
To a Sigilwright, every spell is an equation waiting to be solved. Every ritual reveals another theorem hidden within the Veil. Every magical anomaly is an unanswered question demanding investigation. Through years of disciplined study, Sigilwrights learn that magic is neither random nor unknowable. It is a language written in symbolic mathematics, shaped by emotion, and governed by immutable laws that can be observed, understood, and ultimately mastered.
Unlike Bloodborn who channel power through instinct, Pactsworn who bargain with entities beyond the Veil, or Anointed who receive miracles through faith, Sigilwrights earn every spell they cast through scholarship. Their spellbooks preserve far more than magical formulae. They contain years of research, failed experiments, revised calculations, ritual observations, and carefully documented discoveries that reflect a lifetime devoted to understanding the hidden architecture of reality.
Sigilwrights serve throughout Erosia as scholars, professors, archivists, ritualists, court mages, astronomers, and magical historians. Some devote themselves to great academies where knowledge is preserved for future generations. Others pursue forgotten ruins, unstable magical phenomena, and ancient civilizations whose secrets remain hidden beneath the Veil. Every unanswered question represents another opportunity to expand their understanding of magical law.
The greatest among them pursue an ideal that borders upon myth. They believe there exists a moment when every variable aligns, every equation resolves flawlessly, and the Veil answers without uncertainty. For one impossible instant, magic is not merely cast—it is perfectly understood.
Sigilwrights call that moment Perfection.ion waiting to be solved.
Their spellbooks contain far more than incantations. They preserve research, proofs, observations, failed experiments, revised calculations, and countless discoveries gathered over a lifetime of study. Every page reflects another step toward understanding the hidden architecture of reality.
Although Sigilwrights are respected throughout Erosia as scholars, teachers, advisors, and ritualists, many spend their lives chasing questions that few others even recognize. Ancient ruins, forgotten temples, unstable magical phenomena, and relics of lost civilizations all represent opportunities to uncover another fragment of the Veil’s greater design. To a Sigilwright, every mystery deserves investigation, because every answer brings the world one step closer to being understood.
The greatest among them pursue an ideal that borders on myth. They believe that if every law of magic could be discovered and every equation perfectly resolved, there would come a single transcendent moment when the Veil itself offers no resistance. For one impossible instant, every variable would align, every calculation would prove true, and magic would answer with absolute certainty.
Sigilwrights call that moment Perfection.
Creating a Sigilwright
Every Sigilwright begins with a question.
Some devote their lives to understanding why emotion gives rise to magic. Others investigate forgotten rituals, ancient civilizations, or the influence of the Three Moons upon the Veil. Some pursue scholarship within renowned academies, while others reject established doctrine in favor of independent research conducted in forgotten ruins and dangerous frontiers. Whatever path they follow, every Sigilwright is driven by an unrelenting desire to understand the laws governing reality.
As you create your Sigilwright, consider what first inspired your pursuit of magical scholarship. Were you accepted into a prestigious academy, apprenticed beneath a renowned master, or forced to teach yourself through relentless experimentation? Does your spellbook preserve generations of accumulated research, or are its pages filled entirely with your own observations? Every Sigilwright studies magic, but no two scholars ask the same questions.
Also consider your relationship with uncertainty. Some Sigilwrights believe every mystery has a logical explanation waiting to be discovered. Others accept that the Veil may forever contain truths beyond mortal comprehension, pursuing knowledge with humility rather than certainty. Your philosophy shapes not only your research, but the way you approach every spell, every ritual, and every magical discovery throughout your adventures.

The Nature of Magic
To a Sigilwright, magic is neither miraculous nor unpredictable. It is the natural expression of emotional resonance within the Veil, governed by principles that exist whether mortals recognize them or not. Every spell, ritual, relic, and magical phenomenon follows laws that can be observed, studied, and ultimately understood. The Sigilwright dedicates their life to discovering those laws and applying them with ever-increasing precision.
This pursuit demands far more than memorizing spells. A Sigilwright studies symbolic mathematics, sympathetic resonance, ritual structure, material components, and the influence of emotion upon the Veil. Every magical discipline reveals another piece of a greater equation whose elegance becomes clearer with every discovery. Through disciplined scholarship, the Sigilwright transforms knowledge into mastery and theory into practical magic.
Unlike other spellcasters, the Sigilwright does not separate logic from emotion. Emotion is the foundation upon which all magic is built. Without emotional resonance, there is no magic to shape. Rather than resisting that truth, the Sigilwright embraces it as the universal constant from which every magical equation begins.
Spellcasting
Every spell begins with emotion.
Joy, grief, devotion, fear, longing, determination, wonder, and countless other emotions create subtle disturbances within the Veil. Most spellcasters learn to shape those disturbances through instinct, faith, inherited power, or sacred devotion.
A Sigilwright studies why those methods succeed.
Rather than relying upon intuition alone, Sigilwrights learn the symbolic language through which emotion becomes magical reality. Every spell is a carefully constructed equation composed of emotional resonance, symbolic mathematics, sympathetic material components, focused intention, and disciplined execution. Through years of practice, they learn to write these equations with extraordinary precision until reality itself accepts the completed formula.
The rules for spellcasting appear later in this chapter. What distinguishes the Sigilwright is not the ability to cast spells, but the understanding of how those spells truly work.
The Nature of Sigils

To most people, a sigil is little more than a glowing rune or mysterious glyph. To a Sigilwright, a sigil is something far more profound. A sigil is a symbolic element within a magical equation. Much like conventional mathematics uses constants, variables, coefficients, operators, parameters, and functions to describe the physical world, sigils describe the hidden relationships governing magical resonance within the Veil.
Individually, a sigil possesses little meaning. Together, countless sigils form the symbolic language through which emotion is transformed into magical effect.
When a Sigilwright casts a spell, these symbols briefly manifest around their hands, spellcasting focus, and chosen target. What others perceive as dazzling magical displays are, to the Sigilwright, living equations unfolding across reality itself.
Summation
Every Sigilwright measures progress through understanding rather than power. This accumulated knowledge is known as Summation, representing a lifetime of observation, experimentation, and disciplined scholarship devoted to uncovering the hidden laws of the Veil.
Summation is never exhausted or consumed. Every spell successfully cast, every ritual completed, and every mystery solved contributes to a deeper understanding of magical law. As your Summation grows, seemingly unrelated magical principles reveal increasingly elegant relationships, allowing you to approach even the most complex magical challenges with confidence born from understanding.
Throughout your career, your Summation continues to evolve. Each discovery removes another layer of uncertainty from your calculations, bringing you ever closer to the impossible ideal pursued by every true Sigilwright.
Perfection
Every class experiences Climax differently. For the Sigilwright, Climax is Perfection.
Perfection is the fleeting moment when every variable resolves into flawless harmony. Emotional resonance, symbolic mathematics, material sympathy, and personal intent align so completely that uncertainty disappears. Magic does not become stronger during Perfection. Instead, it becomes perfectly understood, allowing the Sigilwright to execute a spell with absolute certainty.
Few Sigilwrights experience Perfection more than a handful of times throughout their lives, yet every scholar believes it is attainable. Entire academies devote generations of research toward understanding the Veil more completely, hoping to one day witness the impossible moment when every equation resolves without error. Although Perfection cannot be sustained, every glimpse of that ideal inspires another lifetime of study.
Spellcasting
1st-Level Sigilwright Feature
Your study of magical law has taught you that every spell is a carefully constructed equation, transforming emotional resonance within the Veil into a predictable magical effect. Through disciplined study and constant practice, you have learned to perceive the symbolic mathematics hidden within every spell, allowing you to shape reality with precision rather than instinct.
See Chapter X for the general rules of spellcasting and Chapter X for the Sigilwright spell list (currently the Wizard spell list).
Cantrips
At 1st level, you know three cantrips of your choice from the Sigilwright spell list (currently the Wizard spell list). You learn additional Sigilwright cantrips of your choice at higher levels, as shown in the Cantrips Known column of the Sigilwright table.
Spellbook
At 1st level, you possess a spellbook containing six 1st-level spells of your choice from the Sigilwright spell list (currently the Wizard spell list).
Your spellbook is far more than a collection of spells. It serves as a personal journal of magical scholarship, preserving symbolic equations, ritual observations, theoretical revisions, failed experiments, and discoveries gathered throughout your studies. Every Sigilwright’s spellbook reflects a lifetime devoted to understanding the hidden laws governing the Veil.
Preparing Spells
The Sigilwright table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a spell slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a Long Rest.
You prepare the list of Sigilwright spells that are available for you to cast. To do so, choose a number of Sigilwright spells from your spellbook equal to your Intelligence modifier + your Sigilwright level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Preparing a spell represents reviewing its symbolic equation until you can reconstruct it from memory. You may change your list of prepared spells whenever you finish a Long Rest.
Spell Slots
The Sigilwright table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your Sigilwright spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a spell slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots whenever you finish a Long Rest.
Spellcasting Ability
Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your Sigilwright spells, as your understanding of magical law allows you to solve increasingly complex arcane equations.
Spell Save DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Intelligence modifier
Spell Attack Modifier = your Proficiency Bonus + your Intelligence modifier
Ritual Casting
You can cast a Sigilwright spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and appears in your spellbook. You do not need to have the spell prepared.
Spellcasting Focus
You can use an arcane focus or a component pouch as a spellcasting focus for your Sigilwright spells.
Learning Spells of 1st Level and Higher
Each time you gain a Sigilwright level, you can add two Sigilwright spells of your choice from the Sigilwright spell list (currently the Wizard spell list) to your spellbook. Each spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, as shown on the Sigilwright table.
During your adventures, you may discover additional Sigilwright spells that can be copied into your spellbook. When you find a Sigilwright spell (currently the Wizard spell list) of 1st level or higher, you can copy it into your spellbook if it is of a level you can prepare and you can devote the time required to decipher and reproduce its symbolic equation.
For each level of the spell, the copying process takes 2 hours and costs 50 gp. The cost represents the fine inks, rare materials, and experimental notation required to accurately record the spell’s equation.
Summation
1st-Level Sigilwright Feature
Every class experiences the Mechanics of Desire differently. For the Sigilwright, that expression is Summation.
Every spell you cast, every ritual you complete, and every magical phenomenon you study expands your understanding of the Veil. This accumulated knowledge is known as your Summation. Unlike magical energy, Summation is never spent or exhausted. It represents a lifetime of observation, experimentation, and scholarship, allowing you to recognize increasingly sophisticated relationships within the symbolic mathematics that govern reality.
As your Summation grows, uncertainty gradually gives way to understanding. Challenges that once demanded careful calculation become increasingly intuitive, while emotional resonance transforms from an unpredictable force into another variable within the greater equation. Throughout your career, additional Sigilwright features build upon your Summation as your mastery of magical law continues to deepen.
Veiled Play. The first time you cast a Sigilwright spell of 1st level or higher during an encounter, you gain 1 Arousal.
Unveiled Play. The first time you cast a Sigilwright spell of 1st level or higher during an encounter, you gain 1 Arousal. Later Sigilwright features expand how your Summation interacts with Arousal, Libido, and Climax.
Perfection
1st-Level Sigilwright Feature
Every class experiences Climax differently. For the Sigilwright, Climax is Perfection.
For one fleeting instant, every variable resolves into flawless harmony. Emotional resonance, symbolic mathematics, material sympathy, and the Veil itself align with absolute precision, allowing you to cast a spell with perfect certainty.
Whenever you Climax, your next Sigilwright spell cast before the end of your next turn becomes Perfected. When you cast that spell, choose one of the following benefits:
- Maximize all damage or healing dice rolled by the spell.
- Automatically hit with one spell attack made by the spell.
- The first creature required to make a saving throw against the spell automatically fails that saving throw.
- Automatically succeed on the first Constitution saving throw you make to maintain concentration before the start of your next turn.
After the spell resolves, Perfection ends.
Veiled Play. Instead of the benefits above, choose one of the following benefits when you cast the Perfected spell:
- Gain Advantage on one spell attack roll made as part of the spell.
- Impose Disadvantage on the first EROS Save required by that spell.
Unveiled Play. Perfection resolves immediately after your Climax and before any additional effects granted by the Mechanics of Desire.armony, allowing you to cast a spell with absolute certainty rather than overwhelming power.

Unveiled Play. Perfection occurs immediately after your Climax resolves and before any additional effects granted by Advanced Mechanics.
Arcane Recovery
2nd-Level Sigilwright Feature
Years of disciplined study have taught you that knowledge is never truly lost, only awaiting careful review. During periods of quiet reflection, you revisit symbolic equations, retrace your calculations, and reconstruct magical formulae that have faded from immediate memory.
Once per day when you finish a Short Rest, you can recover expended spell slots. The spell slots can have a combined level equal to or less than half your Sigilwright level (rounded up), and none of the recovered spell slots can be 6th level or higher.
You can’t use this feature again until you finish a Long Rest.
Veiled Play. If you have 1 or more Arousal when you use Arcane Recovery, you may immediately attempt an EROS Save. On a success, reduce your Arousal by 1.
Unveiled Play. If you have 1 or more Arousal when you use Arcane Recovery, you may spend 1 Libido to immediately attempt an EROS Save with Advantage. On a success, reduce your Arousal by 1.
Arcane Tradition
2nd-Level Sigilwright Feature
No Sigilwright can master every discipline of magical law. As your studies progress, you dedicate yourself to an Arcane Tradition that reflects your philosophy, methods of research, and the questions you believe are most worthy of pursuit.
Choose an Arcane Tradition. Your choice grants you features at 2nd level and again at 6th, 10th, and 14th level.
Ability Score Improvement
4th-Level Sigilwright Feature
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
Alternatively, you may choose a feat, if your DM allows feats.
Greater Summation
5th-Level Sigilwright Feature
Your understanding of magical law has grown beyond observation into genuine insight. Emotional resonance no longer appears as an unpredictable disruption to your calculations. Instead, you recognize it as another measurable variable within the greater equation, allowing you to adapt your spellcraft with increasing confidence.
Whenever you fail an EROS Save, you may immediately attempt a second EROS Save against the same DC.
You must use the result of the second roll.
Once you successfully avoid gaining Arousal through this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.
Veiled Play. This feature functions as written.
Unveiled Play. If you spend 1 Libido before making the second EROS Save, you make that saving throw with Advantage.
Arcane Tradition Feature
6th-Level Sigilwright Feature
You gain a feature granted by your chosen Arcane Tradition.

10th-Level Sigilwright Feature
Years of disciplined study have transformed careful calculation into practiced intuition. The symbolic mathematics of the Veil reveal themselves with increasing clarity, allowing you to anticipate instability before it disrupts your spellcasting. Emotional resonance no longer catches you by surprise, becoming another predictable variable within your calculations.
Whenever you fail an EROS Save, you may immediately attempt a second EROS Save against the same DC.
If you use Greater Summation to make this second saving throw, you make the roll with Advantage.
You may successfully avoid gaining Arousal through this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Veiled Play. Whenever you would gain Arousal from casting a Sigilwright spell, you may ignore that Arousal once per Long Rest.
Unveiled Play. This feature functions as written.
Arcane Tradition Feature
10th-Level Sigilwright Feature
You gain a feature granted by your chosen Arcane Tradition.
Spellcasting
11th-Level Sigilwright Feature

Living Equation
17th-Level Sigilwright Feature
Your lifelong pursuit of magical law has transformed understanding into instinct. The countless equations, proofs, and observations recorded throughout your career no longer require conscious calculation. You perceive the hidden structure of the Veil with effortless clarity, recognizing relationships that others cannot even observe.
When you would make an EROS Save, you may choose to succeed automatically.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
If you would later fail an EROS Save before completing your Long Rest, you may still use your Greater Summation or Summation Mastery feature if available.
Veiled Play. During an encounter, you may choose to ignore the first Arousal you would gain.
Unveiled Play. This feature functions as written.
Spell Mastery
18th-Level Sigilwright Feature
You have achieved such mastery over certain spells that you can cast them with minimal effort. Choose one 1st-level Sigilwright spell and one 2nd-level Sigilwright spell from your spellbook that you can cast. You can cast those spells at their lowest level without expending a spell slot, provided the spells have been prepared.
If you want to cast either spell at a higher level, you must expend a spell slot as normal. By spending 8 hours in study, you can replace either spell with another eligible spell from your spellbook.
Ability Score Improvement
19th-Level Sigilwright Feature
When you reach 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature. Alternatively, you may choose a feat, if your DM allows feats.
Signature Spells
20th-Level Sigilwright Feature
You have mastered two powerful spells that exemplify your lifelong study of magical law.
Choose two 3rd-level Sigilwright spells from your spellbook as your signature spells. These spells must be prepared and count as Sigilwright spells for you.
You always have these spells prepared, and you can cast each of them once at 3rd level without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to cast them in this way when you finish a Short or Long Rest.
If you wish to cast either signature spell again before regaining this feature, you must expend a spell slot as normal.

Perfection
20th-Level Sigilwright Feature
Your pursuit of magical law reaches its ultimate expression.
The impossible ideal sought by generations of Sigilwrights is no longer a fleeting glimpse. When you achieve Perfection, your understanding of the Veil allows you to choose the exact outcome required by the moment. Every calculation resolves without hesitation, every variable finds its proper place, and every spell reflects complete certainty.
Whenever you Climax, your Perfected spell may benefit from two different Perfection options instead of one.
In addition, when your Perfected spell requires a spell attack roll, saving throw, damage roll, healing roll, or Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration, you may choose which two Perfection benefits to apply after determining the nature of the spell.
Veiled Play. Choose two Veiled Play Perfection benefits instead of one.
Unveiled Play. This feature functions as written.
