Those Who Walk Between What Is… and What Could Be
The Children of the Veil
The elves of Erosia are known collectively as the Children of the Veil, for all four great elven peoples trace their divine origin to Velzhari, the Mirror Bride.
Velzhari did not shape them as lesser copies of herself. She refracted her own divine beauty through four different truths, creating peoples who could express beauty in ways even she could not embody alone.
The Illuminari were born through Light: radiant, deliberate and willing to stand where every eye might find them. They are Velzhari nearest to her own reflection, heirs to beauty revealed and the sacred pleasure of being witnessed.
The Umbral were born through Darkness, fashioned as a gift to Delavira, the Touchless One. Velzhari created beauty that could thrive beyond the reach of full revelation: beauty glimpsed through shadow, distance and veil.
The Dreamborn were born through Dream, shaped for Eshthara, the Dreamweaver’s Tongue. In them, beauty became mutable, imagined and half-unreal — something remembered differently each time it is encountered.
The Greenward were born through Earth and the Wild, a gift and challenge to Rhaziel, the Divine Stalker. They retained Velzhari’s instinct toward visibility, but turned it feral and natural. Greenward traditions of sacred naturism arise from this inheritance: the body is neither hidden nor displayed for approval, but allowed to exist without shame beneath leaf, rain and open sky.
Yet Velzhari placed a lesson within them. The Greenward could be hunted. They could be pursued.
They could even choose to be caught. But they were never made to be possessed. Old Greenward traditions claim this was Velzhari’s answer to Rhaziel: she gave the Hunter something beautiful enough to chase forever, but wild enough that no victory could become ownership.
Thus the four Children of the Veil are sometimes described by theologians through four ancient invitations:
Illuminari — See me.
Umbral — Seek me.
Dreamborn — Dream me.
Greenward — Chase me.
Together they embody Velzhari’s deepest revelation:
Beauty is not one thing. It changes according to the manner in which it is encountered.
✧ OPENING INVOCATION
There are those in Erosia who were not shaped solely by the world as it stands.
They are touched by something softer—
and far less certain.
Dream. Shadow. Memory. Possibility.
The Veil does not claim them fully.
But it does not release them, either.
They live in the space between.
✧ WHAT IT MEANS TO BE VEIL-TOUCHED ✧
To walk as one of the Veil is to exist in quiet contradiction.
You are present… yet distant.
Seen… yet never entirely known.
Children of the Veil are:
- Influenced by dream, shadow, or unseen forces
- Often guided by intuition rather than certainty
- Perceived as beautiful, unsettling, or both
They do not simply live within Erosia.
They interpret it.
✧ THE VEIL’S CHILDREN ✧
Not all who walk this path do so for the same reason.
Some were born to it. Others drifted into it.
All carry its mark.
✧ VEILKIN

Grace Refined Through Distance
Elegant and composed, the Veilkin move as though the world itself has softened around them.
Their presence carries quiet authority—
not through force, but through inevitability.
Poised. Perceptive. Untouchable.
✧ LUMINARI

Born Beneath Guiding Light
The Luminari are drawn toward knowledge, discovery, and understanding.
They find clarity where others see confusion—
and possibility where others see doubt.
Curious. Insightful. Radiant.
✧ DREAMBORN

Shaped by What Is Not Yet Real
The Dreamborn are touched by visions that do not always belong to the waking world.
They see patterns where others see chaos—and possibilities where others see endings.
Liminal. Introspective. Otherworldly.
✧ GREENWARD

Life Rooted in Living Memory
The Greenward are bound not just to nature, but to its quiet persistence.
They do not rush.
They grow.
And in time, they reshape what stands around them.
Patient. Grounded. Enduring.
✧ UMBREL

Depth Carved in Shadow
The Umbrel do not fear the dark—they understand it.
Shadow is not absence, but presence unseen. And they move within it with clarity others lack.
Reserved. Insightful. Unyielding.
✧ TRANSITION
To choose the Veil is to accept uncertainty.
You may not always understand what you are becoming.
But you will feel it.
And sometimes… that is enough.
