Silkborn

Children of Many Roads, Heirs of Every Horizon

“Give mortals a season and they will plant a garden. Give them a century and they will build an empire. Give them heartbreak, and they will write songs that outlive both.” — Common Erosian Proverb.

No people are more widespread, varied, or difficult to define than the Silkborn. Known as humans in older chronicles, they came to be called Silkborn within Erosia for their unmatched ability to weave themselves into every age, culture, and conflict. Like silk, they are supple without fragility, elegant without weakness, and far stronger than they first appear.

Silkborn realms rise on fertile rivers, sea cliffs, deserts, forests, and mountain footholds alike. Their caravans cross hostile roads, their fleets pursue horizons, and their names appear in every trade ledger, temple archive, battlefield roll, and royal scandal worth remembering. Where elder peoples often preserve ancient traditions, Silkborn are renowned for invention, reinvention, and relentless forward motion.

Their years are shorter than many peoples of Erosia, and so they often live with uncommon urgency. They love quickly, grieve deeply, build fiercely, and dream beyond reason. Many gods favor them for this very trait: they burn brightly because they must.

Silkborn Appearance

Silkborn display immense diversity of complexion, facial structure, hair texture, body shape, and cultural dress. No single look defines them. In one city, shaved heads and gold piercings may mark adulthood; in another, elaborate braids, perfumes, ritual tattoos, layered veils, or military sashes carry meaning.

Beauty among the Silkborn is rarely singular. It is shaped by region, status, faith, fashion, and personal will.

Silkborn Society

Silkborn organize themselves through kingdoms, republics, merchant leagues, temple-states, nomad caravans, clan territories, pirate ports, and frontier settlements. They adapt quickly to changing circumstances and often absorb useful customs from neighboring peoples.

Their greatest strength is variety.

Among them are saints, tyrants, lovers, scholars, farmers, duelists, laborers, and visionaries in equal measure.

Silkborn Adventurers

More Silkborn leave home for the road than any other people. Some seek wealth, redemption, fame, vengeance, divine purpose, or simple freedom. Others cannot bear an ordinary life.

Silkborn excel in every class and profession.
