Colossi

Children of Titans, Stone, and Living Legacy

“The mountains are not silent. They are simply patient.” – Titan proverb

Colossi are descendants of elder giant-blooded peoples who refused to vanish when the world grew smaller.

In ages past, beings of immense stature raised sky roads, cut citadels into mountains, bridged canyons, and measured kingdoms in footsteps. As eras changed, their vast blood thinned into forms suited for the younger age.

From those lines came the Colossi.

Though no longer titans, they remain living reminders that the world was once built for larger hands.

Some inherit mountain blood marked by endurance and granite certainty. Others descend from storm dynasties whose voices carry like thunder. Some trace their ancestry to sea-cliff bastions, frost marches, volcanic holds, or wandering ruin-keepers who guarded ancient works long after empires fell.

Colossi are often mistaken for brutes by those who notice size before discipline. In truth, many cultures of the Colossi prize patience, oathkeeping, architecture, hospitality, memory, and measured speech.

To them, strength without restraint is merely collapse delayed.

Colossi Appearance

Colossi are among the tallest mortal peoples of Erosia. Common traits include:

  • heights commonly between 7 and 9 feet
  • dense athletic or broad monumental builds
  • powerful limbs and long strides
  • strong jaws, heavy brows, deep-set eyes
  • voices that carry naturally without shouting
  • mineral flecks, stone-like marbling, or rune-like birthmarks
  • scars worn proudly as records rather than shame
  • skin tones of granite, slate, bronze, ash, umber, copper, ivory, and deep earth hues

Many seem carved rather than born.

Colossi Society

Colossi societies vary widely, but most respect legacy that can outlast a single life. Common communities include:

  • cliffside keeps and mountain terraces
  • wind-scoured plateau towns linked by bridges
  • sea bastions built into black stone coasts
  • wandering caravans bearing giant relics
  • hidden ruin-cities maintained by hereditary stewards
  • glacier halls and volcanic foundries

Values often include:

  • public oathkeeping
  • craftsmanship meant to endure
  • hospitality to honest guests
  • contests of strength with rules and honor
  • ancestry remembered but not worshiped
  • speaking only when words improve silence

Shoddy work is considered more embarrassing than defeat.

Colossi Adventurers

Many Colossi leave home to test themselves against a wider world. Common motives include:

  • recovering giant relics or lost roads
  • proving worth beyond inherited name
  • exile after oathbreaking
  • curiosity about smallfolk life and rapid change
  • seeking deeds worthy of ancestral memory
  • protecting companions with steadfast strength

They excel as fighters, barbarians, clerics, rangers, monks, paladins, and builders of any calling.
