Description
You touch a willing living creature and determine whether it is above or below half its hit point maximum. You also learn whether it is poisoned. The spell reveals no numerical hit point total, disease, injury history, or emotional state, and cannot diagnose the cause of a condition.
Velvet Court Devotion. Threxia. Threxia’s anatomists see the pulse as living script: the body belongs to its bearer even when a healer is reading it.
Devotional Rite. Before casting, the willing target may choose to withhold either the poisoned result or the hit-point-range result. The withheld reading registers as ‘not shared’; the spell cannot bypass this permission in its ceremonial form.
- Veiled Effects. The target may immediately choose to learn the same broad information about its own condition, even if it cannot ordinarily judge its injuries.
- Unveiled Effects. If this spell reveals that the target is below half its hit point maximum or poisoned, and you were unaware of that condition, you may gain 1 Arousal after casting. If you do, the target has advantage on its next Wisdom (Medicine) check before the end of its next turn. This Arousal gain is limited to once per long rest.
“First learn the rhythm. Then ask what has disrupted it.”
