Description
Choose an unattended door, gate, or chest lid no larger than 10 feet on a side. Living-looking thorny tendrils secure it. A creature may use an action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC, breaking the tendrils on a success. The tendrils have AC 12, 10 hit points, and immunity to poison and psychic damage; reducing them to 0 hit points ends the spell. The spell cannot hold a creature in place or prevent a creature from leaving through another exit.
At Higher Levels. When cast using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the tendrils gain 5 hit points for each slot above 1st.
Velvet Court Devotion. Mirellune. Mirellune’s sacred boundaries distinguish restraint freely accepted from confinement imposed in battle. A good door is strongest when it has a known way out.
Devotional Rite. When you cast the spell, you may designate one willing creature who knows a three-knock release signal. That creature may use an action to knock the pattern on the secured object, ending the spell on it immediately. No unwilling creature is required to take part in this rite.
- Veiled Effects. When a creature breaks the tendrils or opens the secured object by force, you immediately hear a brief chime if you are within 120 feet, even if you cannot see it.
- Unveiled Effects. Once during the spell, when hostile interference causes the tendrils to take damage or resist a forced-opening attempt, you may gain 1 Arousal. If you do, the tendrils gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. These vanish when the spell ends.
“Every boundary deserves a chance to hold.”
