Hello, friends and lovers,

I hope you’ve been enjoying all the adventure hooks I’ve been sharing throughout October for Autumn Vigil! If you’ve missed a few, the 31 Days of Autumn Vigil calendar is where you’ll find the celebrations, adventure hooks, and the unique Erosian rewards that accompany them. There is still time to join the festivities.

Now, back to the real reason I’m writing.

The Part of Class Design I’ve Been Dreading

I’ve been burning the midnight oil, burning the candle at both ends, and doing just about everything in my power to finish the part of class design I have been putting off for months: subclasses. Alongside that work, I’m building the next truly original Erosian class, the Invoker, a hero who forms a living bond with a legendary Champion from history.

The Invoker is more than a traditional summoner. Its Champions are sentient legendary echoes carried through unique relics. They arrive with their own memories, convictions, and personalities. You do not simply order a legend around; you earn the trust needed to stand beside one. I want this class to feel unlike anything else at the table.

I’m in the home stretch. So what has me dragging my feet? One word.

Magic.

The Sigilwright and Relicwright now have complete first drafts of their subclass pages, but those designs need their final magic pass before I release them publicly. That brings me face to face with something much bigger: the launch of Magic in Erosia.

Until now, I’ve gently encouraged players who favor wizards and other spellcasters to keep using familiar Fifth Edition spells. That has helped Erosia remain approachable while I’ve built its core. But I cannot keep doing that forever and still give the Invoker, Sigilwright, and Relicwright the distinctive magical identity they deserve.

The foundation is already taking shape in the Erosian Disciplines of Magic. The next step is a proper spell collection, from cantrips through 9th-level spells, designed to work with the Mechanics of Desire rather than simply having Erosian names pasted over familiar effects.

I need magic that interacts meaningfully with Arousal, Libido, and Climax in Unveiled Play, while remaining useful to groups that favor Veiled Play. I need spells that can stir desire, reward clever choices, shape rituals, and enhance the identities of the Sigilwright and Relicwright. And I need options for spellcasters whose power comes from learning and craft rather than a patron, a deity, or their blood.

That is not a small design problem. It’s an entire grimoire waiting to be written.

So Here’s the Deal: I Want You to Break Things

Instead of keeping all this work behind the curtain until every last spell is polished, I’m putting the available class material into your hands now. Browse the Player Classes and Subclasses sections, try a character, and tell me what actually works at your table.

Below is the current class roster and every named subclass path. Published subclasses are linked so you can explore them now. Other subclass write-ups already exist as substantial WordPress drafts, but are not yet publicly accessible, so I’ve listed their names without linking to unpublished pages. The new Invoker Callings are still being built.

Now I Need Your Feedback

Which class makes you want to roll dice immediately? Which subclass feels the most exciting? Which one looks underpowered, overtuned, confusing, or simply in need of another pass? Please don’t worry about being polite. I want the constructive criticism, awkward edge cases, and clever combinations I might have missed while working alone.

Better yet, I want you to make a character. Not just skim the features. Actually walk through the choices and tell me where the process flows and where it catches.

If you’re starting fresh, visit Building Your First Erosian Character and create someone ready to step through the Veil.

If you already have a Fifth Edition character you love, you don’t have to leave them behind. Follow Beyond the Veil: Bringing Your Character into Erosia to bring that adventurer into this world.

Tell me what you chose, what surprised you, what you enjoyed, and what you want me to fix. You can leave your thoughts in the comments or send me a direct message. Your experience will help shape the next version of the rules.

One Last Gift from the Cornfield

On a completely different note, I spent yesterday building a corn maze for anyone with a 3D printer. Yes, an actual printable dungeon terrain set for creating your own winding maze of cornstalk walls, twists, and autumn trouble. If you’d like the files for free, send me a DM. I’ll bundle the corn maze terrain into a ZIP file and send it your way so you can print your own little patch of Autumn Vigil chaos.

It has been a long road to get here. We’re very close now, even if the last stretch is demanding the most of me. Thank you for reading, exploring, playing, and helping this world become something we can share.

The three moons of Autumn Vigil are drawing close.

All my love,
DM Ookami
